Dry the swamp indeed! Turkey expects more than 20 million tourists this year. Every dollar and euro spent in Turkey is bullets against our cause. So, let’s start an international campaign against Turkish tourism. Let’s post “advertisements” in major news papers and magazines against Turkey. Something like “Welcome to Turkey: The country of genocidal maniacs and professional rapists!” – accompanied with appropriate pictures. What you are suggesting is an excellent idea but in fact it is no different from what we have been doing throughout our entire history, damage control, tit for tat, reaction and negativism. I would much rather take the lead and have them waste their time and energy reacting and damage control. We have so much to offer to the world, history, culture, nature and more. Masis Sar is the world’s best known landmark, it is the most photogenic mountain, perhaps nest to Mount Fuji. Yes, it may legally in an alien country now but virtually it is in Armenia for all practical purposes, there is hardly a place in RA where its majesty is obscured. How many Turks can see, have seen Ararat? All Armenians have to do is reach out and touch it. It can a treasure trove if handled correctly. There are so many idiot ark-head who still believe that the Ark is still visible. Can we sucker those idiots to land and stay in Yerevan and other closer villages while taking day trips looking for the ark. It may take a million years since there is no such thing. We can build a whole industry around Masis Sar. Legal and international matters can be worked out if we can only show that Ankara may benefit as much as Yerevan. Z'areh Posted June 22, 2005 Report Share Posted June 22, 2005 I think the best response to Turkish tourism is Armenian Tourism, when was the last time, or anytime for that matter, we saw in a major newspaper showing Ararat from Yerevan and publicizing Armenia for tourist destination? or the spas of Dsaghgetsor,and the wonderful Haghardsin monastery, to name a few. In contrast to that how many times do we see Turkey being advertised as tourist destination? many many times. So, as Arpa says, instead of reacting negatively let's act positively. We always wait and then get mad. We seem to be doing this quite often...the latest being our reaction to the Times DVD fiasco. Always reacting and not taking the initiative... It shocks me every day when odar people do not even know that a country named Armenia exists. Needless to say, Gams has a point. The Turks are hitting the ROA below the belt economically. Our only weapon is to deprive them of their greater economic success. Do you think that if they were not trying to enter the EU that there would be any discussion at all about "the events of 1915-23?" Economics is a lever. They must be shown that coming to terms with the truth will help them economically. Isolated revolutionary acts by a few, who are fed up with Ottoman abuse, does not warrant the eradication of a whole people. ...and where did they come up with 523,00 Turks killed by Armenians. Was it the "magican" Halacoglu who pulled that rabbit out of his hat, conjuring this up "out of whole cloth?" Europeans do not care how much people the turks slaughtered. All they care about is to have nice tan and to make some pictures of Roman, Greek and Armenian artifacts (the later being presented by their turkish hosts as Aramean, Babylonian, etc..). It is a business. Divert Western tourist from Turkey and let them go to Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Italy and..Armenia. That's the whole point and I believe Kurds can be of great help. Plus, do you think that it is a pleasant view to see Germans tanning their bodies on my ancestors shores and complementing the "turkish" climate and recreational conditions? As ArmInfo was told today in the Department of Information and Press of RA MFA, the latter has no information yet if citizens of Armenia or other Armenians suffered as a result of explosions. It is only known about two suffered Russians. As the leading world information agencies inform, the first explosions happened on the night of Sunday to Monday in Istanbul and in a resort town of Marmaris. One explosion more happened in the evening the day before in a resort town of Antalia. According to the eye-witnesses, the explosion was of such a force that some cars turned into a heap of metal.
