DominO123
"Turkish Press April 25 2005 REFERENCE BOOK OF TALAT ***** HURRIYET- Grand Vizier Talat ***** of the Ottoman Empire recorded all demographic statistics in his book during his term in office in 1915. According to his reference book, 924,158 Armenians were forced to migrate under the Relocation Law which was adopted by the Ottoman government on May 27th, 1915; and 141,592 Armenian people were relocated from central city of Sivas, and 4,381 others from Konya. " Seems that Cemals reference of 1.5 million Armenians being evacuated is even supported by Talaat, suggesting that 2 million or over Armenians were living in the Empire. Those revisionists present this by believing that they are supporting their causes, when they do the opposit. If the law of May 27 alone was reponsable of 924,158 Armenians being deported, it means that all in all, it is reasonable to estimate that near 1.5 million Armenians were evacuated. Another interesting thing, is that the entire Sivas villeyet according to the Ottoman figures had a population of 151,674, and here we are said that only in the central city of Sivas alone there was at least 141,592. Armenians. Edited April 27, 2005 by QueBeceR

Twilight Bark
QBR jan 924,158 from Anatolia - news was saying style_images/master/snapback.png Presumably that number does not include Armenian men in the Ottoman army, who were conveniently liquidated and did not need to be "relocated". Also, it cannot include the extensive slaughter carried out during Kazim Karabekir's campaign against Armenia. He is known in Turkey as a great humanitarian for converting the orphans of the massacred Armenians (who naturally, though strangely, go unmentioned) into Turks (as opposed to killing them off as well, I suppose; but then again accumulating more warm bodies with malleable minds for the new nation was not exactly altruistic). Anyway ... This stinky subject of genocide really needs to be given a proper burial. I hate it, and yet cannot avoid it. It's bleeding intellectual life out of both "Turks" and Armenians, and indirectly from the region. It is acting like salt in the spiritual soil of both nations. It paralyzes "Turks" into a primitive mindset that they cannot get away from without facing up to it, and is giving Armenians all too easy a way to be "righteous" without trying. DominO123
QBR jan 924,158 from Anatolia - news was saying style_images/master/snapback.png 924,158 + 141,592 + 4,381 = 1,070,131 Exclude Sivas and Konya, and the evacuations from March 2 to May 28, and you'll find more hundred of thousands..., and as TB said, it excludes the men in the military. The only thing this indicates is that Guruns 702 thousand figure was an under-evaluation of about half. During the military tribunal a quota of 2/3 was presented, which would mean that there was over 2 million Armenians within the Empire. I also believe that the figures of conversions during and after the genocide are exagerated, since even Turkish records demonstrate that a decision was taken to also deport those newly converted Armenians.
