MosJan
YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS OF ARMENIA DEMAND TO CANCEL KIRKOROV CONCERT IN YEREVAN 24.03.2005 05:57 /PanARMENIAN.Net/ Today Armenian youth organizations of Armenia send a complaint letter to the organizers of the concert of Philipp Kirkorov in Yerevan. The message authors called not to admit the concert. Grounding their demand they noted in their message the fact that Kirkorov adheres to an evident anti-Armenian and even Turkish-minded stand and lately publicly insulted an Armenian female journalist, having emphasized her background with contempt. The authors of the complaint consider inviting a singer propagating Turkish songs to Armenia on the eve of the 90-th anniversary of the Genocide an amoral step. The income expected from the concert is not commensurable with the moral values represented by the national and human dignity. Representatives of youth organizations noted that in case Kirkorov concert is not canceled, they reserve the right to resort to practical actions not to admit the concert. <!> Reproduction in full or in part is prohibited without reference to "PanARMENIAN.Net" Send | Print
PaperBoy
YOUTH AND STUDENTS OF ARMENIA PROTEST AGAINST ARRIVAL OF PHILIPPE KIRKOROV IN YEREVAN YEREVAN, MARCH 24. ARMINFO. Nakharar
Armenian youth groups protest concert of Russian pop star Agence France Presse -- English March 25, 2005 Friday 6:38 AM GMT YEREVAN March 25 -- Some 30 youth and student groups voiced outrage at the forthcoming April 8 concert of Russia's pop singer Filipp Kirkorov for what they claim is his pro-Turkish, anti-Armenian attitude. "Kirkorov has an obvious anti-Armenian, and moreover, pro-Turkish attitude, which showed in a recent incident when he publicly insulted an Armenian reporter, slighting her background," the groups said in a protest letter made public late Thursday. As such, the concert could prove "amoral" if held on the eve of the 90th anniversary of the Armenian massacre of 1915 which Turkey still refuses to consider genocide. The letter's signatories warned that they planned to meet Kirkorov -- who pledged to end his stage career after the insulted Irina Aroyan took him to court -- at the airport with slogans and eggs in hand. Yerevan Municipality has not invited Philipp Kirkorov, Vice Mayor of Yerevan Arman Sahakyan has told journalists. Sahakyan has no data on this CJSC, except the one that it is engaged in organization of concerts. Sahakyan notes that the invitation of singers to Yerevan is not an issue for politicization. It is a question of culture, he says. As regards the prevention of the concert, the Municipality is not empowered to do it. Moreover, taking into account the fact that this year is announced a Year of Russian in Armenia, we must expect many singers and the Yerevan Municipality is to support their concerts. PaperBoy
YEREVAN RESIDENTS: “PRESENT KIRKOROV WITH A BOOK ABOUT BULGARIA, LET HIM LEARN HISTORY” 30.03.2005 03:35 /PanARMENIAN.Net/ According to the survey conducted by the PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, 60% of the Yerevan residents negatively view the outlook of witnessing the “grandiose super-show” of rowdy Russian star Philip Kirkorov. People are indignant at the fact that Kirkorov is ashamed of his origin. Let us remind that during his interview with one of the Moscow broadcasting stations Kirkorov stated that Bulgaria was under the Armenian yoke. The singer is convinced that just due to this reason a lot of Bulgarians accustomed to the Armenian language and culture. 35% of those surveyed do not care for the arrival of the singer and when commenting on Kirkorov’s statement on the Armenian yoke said, “Present him with a book about Bulgaria, let him learn history.” Only 5% of the Yerevan residents would like to be present at the concert “for the fun of it”. In their opinion, the show must be unforgettable taking into account the hostile attitude of the Armenian youth towards Kirkorov’s arrival. Meanwhile many Armenian pop singers and some 30 youth organizations are protesting against the tour of Kirkorov mostly because of his pro-Turkish repertory (remakes of Turkish pop star Tarkan) and public insult of Armenian journalist Irina Aroyan, an action that generated wide public disapproval in Russia leading to his oust from the Russian show business. Ayrumyan claims that she daily receives 350 calls in Kirkorov's support. "We expected such attitude but could not help inviting g him as he is the best," she says. Meanwhile only 30% of the tickets have been sold to date. The tickets for his Dzoraberd restaurant concert range from $80 to $150 and for the Concert Complex one from 3,000 AMD to 15,000 AMD ($6-30). Also, he insulted an Armenian journalist at a press conference not long ago. Also, there are pictures of him wearing a shirt that has a turkish flag on it.
