DO NOT CONSIDER CRIME STATEMENTS THAT A GENOCIDE WAS COMMITTED AGAINST ARMENIANS’

In a letter to Turkey’s justice minister, Miklos Haraszti, OSCE representative of Media Freedom, called for Turkey stop considering statements about Armenian Genocide criminal, Medimax reports.

The OSCE representative welcomed reform of the Turkish Penal Code. Its improved version will go into force on 1 April. On the other hand, Haraszti noted: "Your Penal Code still contains a number of worrying articles that contradict OSCE standards of freedom of expression and that makes the office worry".

The OSCE representative reminded of the "insult of National Interests" - explanatory document attached to the 305 article in Turkish Penal Code. This very document leaves room for labeling statements on Armenian Genocide criminal.

Does the OSCE have a peace keeping/army force?

I am just trying to find out how how they can fulfill their missions without an army especially those pertaining to security.

It seems like the U.N which most of you have noted earlier to be irrelevant.

any thoughts, I don't know too much about OSCE.

does anyone know the extent of the influence of islam on the Turkish Penal Code?

i heard those iranian molahs favor cutting ppl's fingers off like they used to do thousands of yrs back. I would not be surprised if Turkey's justice system is tainted by Islamic fundemental beliefs.

The OSCE can indirectly influence through EU or CE.

Let's not forget that - in the EU-Turkey masquerade - TEMPORARILY SO CALLED Turkey is assuming the beggar's role!

Probably not.

But if the moderate Islamic party continues to rule Turkey, maybe.

I wonder how Turkey has succeeded in keeping islam out of the affairs of thier state.

Most ME countries have had and continue to struggle with this.

Is Turkey sympathetic to Jews?

the Iraqi regime (Saddam) kicked Jews out about 15 yrs ago.

My word, what galaxy do you live in?

In 1926, Kemal Ataturk of Turkey formally abolished Sharia law. As a result, Turkey has a fully secular legal framework, taken directly from Swiss civil and Italian penal codes. In 1930, Turkish women gained the right to vote and to run for election.

you should know from experience that just b/c something is on paper, it doesn't mean it's being followed.

you spent tens of threads in "Meet the U.S." forum making allegations and even if they were true, those would not be accepted as legal precedent in U.S. So like i said, if you believed what you were arguing for earlier, then you should know that just b/c something is on paper, doesn't mean it's being followed.

you should noticed that i wrote "tainted" and not "ruled" or "governed by"

your arguing a different arguement.

and no, I don't/neither would want to live in a galaxy of contradiction

anyone past the 3rd grade should have realized that there are implicit innerworking agreements between members of society that are not entirely and explicitely mentioned on paper.

the references you make don't apply to any real society entirely, societies are much more complex in structure & processes to be entirely represented on paper.

I'll say it up front - don't take yourself too seriously.
