Armat Posted January 17, 2005 Report Share Posted January 17, 2005 I have trouble installing flash player since every page which has one I get a warning prompt asking my security active x settings does not allow me to view the site. I spent two hours trying to install flash without success. I enabled all custom choices for my X controls and still I get the same prompt whenever I visit a site, which has shockwave or flash player. (Internet Explorer from Microsoft) Do you have any other firewalls, or 'internet protection software' enabled? Â You may just want to download an alternate browser like FIREFOX. And then install the flash plug-in for Firefox - maybe the problem you're experiencing could be circumvented by using another browser.. Armat Posted January 18, 2005 Author Report Share Posted January 18, 2005 Vave J,I do have two spywares installed but even disabling both of them did not change anything however I do have the firewall protection on IE checked.I am going to uncheck it see if it will work. Personally I hate IE and your suggestion is a great one but do I have to install all the data meaning internet log in and mail etc. orit will aoutomatically install all this data. I love the firefox and I downloaded and installed as my defoult browser.I also succesfully downloaded flash to firefox.It looks clean and melice free so far.I would like to install the mail tool as well but it wants password for going and coming mail which I forgat.Easy to fix.Thanks again. vava Posted January 18, 2005 Report Share Posted January 18, 2005 Glad you like it You'll find that you probably have fewer security issues, simply because there are fewer people using firefox and as such, it's less attractive to and has less potential for those malicious individuals wreaking havoc on the web. Thunderbird is a good mail client as well - definately not as powerful/flexible as Outlook (It doesn't have all the cool extras, but it handles mail well and that's it. o if that's what you need, why not?
