    What's Next?

In regards to Americans using the Erebuni airbase, (and this is with the presumption that Russia will allow them to waltz in there and set up shop) I hope to never see this day. The last thing Armenia wants to do is aggravate the only thing that has kept the Turks from finishing us off in the first place, Russian "protection" or as some see it "occupation". We have a lot to offer, there is new talk of oil in the region, uranium, and much more but we need to work with those closest to us. Its not who can feed us today, but who will provide food for the future.
  2. LOL! 34% turk. Well looks like my work is getting somewhere. Ive been trying to get the word out all over and since I last voted about an hour ago, we've moved up 2% in the YES category. This is the reason I don't post much here as I used to (on other sites). Please, contact your congress men, local representatives, and everyone else people! We are a very powerful group of individuals!
  3. Well guys, im not sure what section this belongs in but here goes... MSNBC has a poll up about whether or not the US should recognize the Armenian Genocide. The link follows, please go and vote. Also, repost this bulliten if you have myspace and help get the word out. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21253084/
  4. The sheer size of it is incredible however I wish they were tested before any were put into public use.
  5. Thats absolutley right! Armenia is rich in Uranium and is one of the few natural sources we have to export. This is one of the reasons Russia still has a hold of Armenia and protects us.
  6. This is a good move for Armenian (although im sure they had little say in it). It will bring foreign attention to our nation and possible future investors. I have been in the US and some Euro markets when I was investing years back and one of the few stocks I would never consider was Gazprom. The reason being, there is too much information that is confidential and your honestly buying it on hope and hope alone.
  7. I havnt even finished reading this but it is chalk full of information and is quite interesting. It about time some truth is writen about how Yerevan and Armenia as a whole is controlled.
  8. Thank you so much for these wonderful pictures guys. They bring back so many feelings and great memories.
  9. As I read through your post I couldn’t more that we do have some negative influences in the Armenian community. However this is not only in Los Angeles but on an international level, but there is no way everyone can meet you expectations of what is civil and right. I found it hurtful and demeaning when you pointed out the troubles and problems are caused by “hyastancis”. This further divides our people and that mindset can only lead to more problems and further violence. We have enough intercultural violence in our communities already, please fuel the fire, instead be a constructive and beneficial. I’m not sure if you have a negative vibe toward everyone from Armenian through experiences or if you were raised to feel that way but I hope things do change for you. I hope you re evaluate your surrounding and your experiences and maybe something good will come of it. I wish you the best.
  10. It is a widley known fact, at least in the ARmenian community that Azerbejian hired outside troops to fight its war with Armenian becuase their own people were not whilling to, and were unable to do it. This is on eof the reasons we took Atrsak. If you were hired to fight for a random country, would you really risk your life for their goal or would you try to stay alive for as long as you contract was and leave with your money?
  11. This is another classic case of globalization at its best and worst. There is two sides to this aquasition, yes Armenia will become a bigger player in the world filed of finance but how will it affect our people in the long run? Will it stunt the countries potential like in so many other third world countries? I guess only time will tell.
  12. Arpa, the markets here in Los Angeles are good quality for the most part. I'm sure there are some who sacrafice quality for profits, but in general the produce and other items in Armenian stores are of good quality equal to corperate chains and costs less becuase they have less overhead and other expenses. Some have mostly Armenian based clients but others have a wide range of clientale. I know of a pastry store down the street that is Armenian owned but I see and equall amount of non Armenians there as I do Armenian. Im glad weve learend and moved forward in this country, it truly makes be feel proud to say Armenian are a very successful people.
  13. I can only speak of the Armenian population here in Los Angeles, however a good portion of our money is spent in Armenian owned businesses. Obviously people do shop at chain super markets and other ethnic stores and it all comes down to convenience. IF you have the time, money, and self motivation you go to the Armenian owned business, if not you go to Vons, Macy’s and other corporate companies. On the flip side, many Armenian owned businesses have gained negative publicity and reputations. Some through personally conduct, and some get labeled with negativity due to the fact that they are Armenian owned. We also see this new trend of first generation Armenians and our youth (including myself) who spend minimal time and money in Armenian owned businesses and take our money else where. This is due partly to growing up here and popular culture as well as assimilating to our surroundings.
