  1. True zen to read your comments. Even more true now that you're no longer published, ironically. Such is our fate.
  2. If there's one thing consistent in our thousands of years history, its that we've always been exploited by competing powers. It can also be said that we've been preserved for that purpose as well.
  3. Every Armenian should support them, not just for obvious reasons, but historically, they have been our cultural cousins (unlike what people mistakenly think of Greeks).
  4. It's amazing as I grow older, I learn about how much a part of the cold war we were. I'm still trying to unravel the mysteries revolving the persecutions for pro-soviet Armenians in the early 1940's, decline and persecution of Hunchags in the 1950's (in the US, in Beirut with the help of ARF in the 1960's-70's). I wish I could research it for a book, the Armenians and Armenia and the Diaspora and the Cold War.
  5. They'll pioneer the eventual regeneration of downtown Fresno that they've been planning for decades now. Unfortunately, its far away from all the wealth and close to all the bad neighborhoods, but maybe like the Tower District they'll be able to stand independent and be a success. The problem is getting all those cheap Fresno Armenian Farmers to invest in their communities.
  6. They did it under Clinton and they'll do it again. Like Monte, I'm not concerned about any foreign 'recognition'.
  7. 1. You obviously don't know Armenian history good enough to know about the name I chose. Since you chose sarcasm as a way of revealing it, I will not throw the pearl to swine. 2. Since when did 'kismet' mean the same thing as 'hajogh'?
  8. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070119/ap_on_...d&printer=1 this really sucks
  9. There is no greater form of patriotism than self criticism. Without Ara, many would still wander the Earth wondering "why am I the only one who doesn't see the plank in the communities eye?" It's not 'amot' to say these things. It's a shame to let it exist, and be such a significant part of our modern identity.
  10. The worst part is that there are those from Beirut who still think of those terrorists as heroes. There is no greater shame than how the Tashnags make themselves out to be better than everyone else by attacking Armenians...but to do this, or view these people as 'heroes' is inexcusable and makes the whole Tashnag organization look so bad. Add to it the narrow minded brainwashing of AYF (I say so not in attack but because I have to teach Armenian history to so many of these self professed experts) who go around with such arrogance. The worst part: no other organization does as much as they do. THis is our KISMET.
