  1. Here is the French one . I don't know if you can speak french or how updated this site is. http://lalettre.hayway.org/ Here is the Ramgavar english site, it is under construction. http://www.adl-ramgavar.org/newsletter/subscribe.php Also they have many events my Aunts and Uncles go to, and the Armenian Rights Council-United States is there monthly publication, I think. I have it in front of me right now.
  2. I to have a sad story to tell, that had a happy ending, then a sad one. In Zahle, Lebanon where my dads and part of my moms family was from. My dad was only a small boy when it happened but my Great Aunt remembers the day well. The Tashnags in town were going to try to steal the Church. So what my Great-Granpa and other community leaders did is get all the Armenian youth and people to lock arms and surround the Church to stop the Tashnags from coming in. My dad was inside the Church at this time because he was small. But my Great-Grandpa also had called the city police to help, and they to surrounded the Church. At this time there was a Church service held and at this service and we said the name of Vazgen Catholicos not the one in Antillias. The Tashnags were trying to hold a service and say the name of there Catholicos who was illegally elected by the way. There was only one Armenian Bishop there to ordain him and they had to use a Assyrian one. Or they had two and needed three I forgot the exact number. Anyway for a while there was always a policeman there to stand guard against the Tashnags from trying to steal the Church. At this point in time only Two or Three Churches would say Vazgen CAtholicos during the service, the one in Tripoli and another one I think. The church has since been stolen by the Tashnags, because they evetually became the majority in the town.
  3. What a story, that guy has some guts to travel there. The only people who should investigate there are people who know Turkish so they could act like they are Turks and not be in so much danger.
  4. I will ask about the Evangelical Church thing in the 60's and 70's. The issue of priest's as far as I know is not a big deal. The ones from Echmiadzin in the west coast that I have talked to have said that we really need to combine. And I personally don't think that Echmiadzin would liquadate the assets of Cilicia. They almost reconciled when Vazgen CAtholicos died and the Cilician Catholicos became Echmiadzins Catholicos, but I have no idea what happened. I have never been able to get a strait answer from anyone, but I will ask the Armenian studies professer, and he should tell me.
  5. It is funny how correct the article is. If the Church Unites the Tashnags will lose a lot of power. In Fresno the ARF Branch tried to take the deed of the Church, and when the Hysoorp said no they in a sense kicked him out.
  6. They are even building a new church in the north of the Country. I forgot the name of the city.
  7. Thank God that was not a ladies voice.
  8. I just showed the video to my sister, and she was in shock and in disbelief.
  9. Did you see how those people were trying to dance and act in the video?
  10. I am not a big fan of Israel, but I fully support the Lebanese government and I belive in my heart that they are not Zionist puppets.
  11. The Basha is something that I have been called as a nickname since I have been a little Kid. People in town even differenciate me with the Basha if there is another Sako who is also as tall as I am, or to call me it just for fun. It is something that is just in a way dear to me. I know it is Turkish and all, but Egyptians still use the Basha. I in my own imagination when I was a kid thought of myself as a Basha, my Grandpa's Grandpa who died in the 1950's or 1940's new the king of Egypt, I even have a picture of him with his Fez and all, and in this picture you see a gold chain and on the end of the chain hidden is a Gold watch from the king of Egypt. This Grandpa lived to a 110 and for one reason or another I always felt a connection to him. I hope this clears it up for you guys.
  12. I did not say that I hate this kind of new Armenian music, I hate that song, and the ladies voice is horrid. And what are those people doing in the video, they look like they are having a seizure. What I am trying to say in conclusion is that specific video does not present us very well, and the lady singing is not exactly the next Sylvie Vartan. When I hear Armenians make fun of Armenian music it pisses me off, but this video is something else, I was ready to shoot myself in the head.
  13. Meze hamar asank panner chee Vayler. Menk Esh Chenk, menk Hyenk yev mer Hye Yerkerner@ yes ga sirrem, yev dumbo music chem uzer. Iskgagan ban am asum kez. @s music@ kez hamar lav Music eh? Ga Seeresgore as music@. Please for the life of me say no.
  14. That was by far the stupidest video I have ever seen in my life involving the Armenian language. I wish that I will never have to sit through that again. I might go crazy if I ever see it again.
  15. Wow what happened to the discussion about Lebanon?

    Secular?

Armenia has no reason to be supposedly secular. It is and always will be a Christian Nation.
  17. Femme, try CYMA, the Christian Youth Mission to Armenia. It is through the Armenian Church. You can do an internship and stay for two months or go site seeing for two weeks. Here is the site, a lot of my friends went on both. http://www.cyma-wd.org/
  18. A lot of people from here in Fresno go up in the winter time to ski, snowboard and gamble which is allowed in the Nevada side. The other wild fires do affect us all over California though.
  19. He said he stopped playing for the national team, he is 35 now which is pretty old in the game of basketball.
  20. Sassun so have you heard of Vicken Eskedjian?
  21. Sassun, The guy I played against today was Vicken Eskedjian. This guy is about an inch taller then me so his about 6'3 and maybe a liittle more, he ripped, and he is 35 and still can jump and dunk like its nothing. He played for Antranik last year and is a free Agent this year, he might or might not play, and he might play for Antranik again, so he is unsure what he will do.
  22. I am a mix of what Sip is saying and what Sassun is saying, Yahoodis are the evil and scum of the Earth, but the U.S. does support them. But I can not hate a place where I have such a good life that my fathers side of the family did not have in Lebanon. I see what you both are saying and I kind of agree with both of you.
  23. I will find out his name tonight and tell you.
  24. Sassun, this is a bit off topic, but do you know of the Lebanese-Armenian guy who plays for the National team in basketball, or did he stop playing. Anyway I am going to play agianst him this Friday, he is here in Fresno, California and he is playing with the Homenetmen team that I will hopefully a year from now be good enough to be on.
