Hi everyone. I'm curious to find out if it would be a good idea to participate in a tour to historical Armenia through a tour organization based in Armenia. I know that there are many organizations based in Yerevan which organize such trips. But I'm curious to hear other opinions or know if anyone else has participated in them and what organizations are known to have a good reputation. Thanks

Artsakh should be placed on our priority list. The genocide recognition issue isn't going anywhere; books are being published more and more about them so ordinary people can read about it and I frankly don't care if the leaders of this or that government don't want realize it as such just because it doesn't correspond to their interests.

And how will Georgia respond once we recognize Abakhazia and S. Ossetia? At first, there will be the usual nonsense about making routine repairs to the railroads and then they'll choke us by regularly closing down the border. The West and the EU will respond in one form of another. Russia is going to be the only guarantor of Armenia's security in that region in case the sh&t hits the fan and conflict erupts. But yeah, I agree, a new direction is desperately needed right now.

Drop the emotional genocide baggage already. Anyone who is acquainted of the April 24-US President-two step and who seriously says that they didn't expect Obama to not fulfill his pledge is a gullible buffoon and it's childish that we're stilling crying and whining over about it, calling Obama a traitor, etc. Of course he was going to do it? He's not going to sell-out US national security and policy in the Middle East just so we Armenians can sleep easier at night. Who cares if 90% of the world recognizes the genocide 15 years from now when Azerbaijan and Turkey have swallowed up Armenia and there is no Armenia to even speak about? The Armenian lobby has accomplished little next to nothing and it's about time we start concentrating our energies on more fruitful projects.

Suny never writes that the land "historically belongs to Azerbaijan" - that's just a distortion. You can guys check up the pages if you want. Although I have to admit, Soviet history aside, the man has been wrong in so many places when talking Artsakh and nationalism in the region.

Robert Thomson has said some of the most absurd things regarding ancient Armenian historians. While I don't find anything nefarious in his works, he is a terrible philologist (he is not a historian) and his conclusions have done a great deal of damage to the reputation of the ancient scholars. Thank God he is retired.
