Apparently Sarko got married on Thursday. He probably wanted to get even with his former wife who dumped him for another guy. What a loser.

Wasn't Jesus a carpenter? That means he was most likely to be stocky and muscular instead of a lean, scraggy person. Plus being of Middle Eastern origin, he would probably look more like your average Palestinian with olive skin than that nordic persona.

The emancipation and the higher level of education of Armenians also lead to their demise. Unfortunately it came at the expense of having more children, or else they wouldn't be pushed around so easily. It's simple demographics. Whereas Turks have 1-2 children per family nowadays, the Kurds have 4-5 children on average. It doesn't take a genius to say what will happen in a few years if not now. With events unfolding as they are, they are only trying to prolong the inevitable. Why not get over it asap and give them what they truly desire? They'll have their long-awaited Kurdistan and we will be better off without them.

Hardly the reaction of a sane person in my opinion and whose mental faculties are anything but intact. This story is so pathetic it seems concocted as if the victims are made to feel as the guilty part. What next? Begging forgiveness from murderers for having hurt their feelings? Please save the all-so benevolent religious forgiveness crap. You can perhaps fool those who want to live in a fairy-tale world of makebelief. This brought tears to my eyes. Does anyone believe that for a moment? Forgiveness is a two-way street and totally meaningless if the other party has not an ounce of remorse and is not willing to pay the price. I would love to see (and I don't only mean the author of this article) go through the same thing and then let us see if the pontification will continue.

U.S. man axed Dutch student, lawyer says By TOBY STERLING, Associated Press Writer Wed Sep 12, 11:22 PM ET AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - A U.S. citizen who hoped to punish the Netherlands for its government's support of the war in Iraq has confessed to axing a 22-year-old Dutch student to death after failing to find a soldier to kill, his lawyer said Tuesday. Carlos Hartmann, 41, of Tecumseh, Mich., confessed to the killing on a train platform Saturday in the southern city of Roosendaal, lawyer Peter Gremmen said. Hartmann appeared before a judge Tuesday and was ordered held for another two weeks for investigation. "He hates soldiers, and says that the army kills people, so it would be legitimate if he were also to kill someone ... from the American military — or from its NATO allies," Gremmen said in a telephone interview. When Hartmann failed to find a soldier at the Roosendaal train station, "he got such a crazy, disturbed idea that he killed a civilian," Gremmen said. Hartmann did not attempt to escape the scene and was arrested shortly after the killing. Dutch prosecutors confirmed a suspect had confessed but did not identify him or the victim, in keeping with Dutch practice. Under the Dutch legal system, Hartmann was not required to enter a plea Tuesday. Dutch television program "4 In Het Land" reached both of Hartmann's parents by telephone. "He was against the war, and he thought the U.S. was aggressive, going into other countries and making war," his mother Delores told the program. "You can be anti-war, you can be leftist, but not this — I never imagined something like this," she said, weeping. Gerald Hartmann described his son as intelligent but "he was an angry person too, I think, that's the problem." Prosecution spokeswoman Martine Pilaar said her office was taken aback by Gremmen's willingness to reveal details of his case. But Gremmen said he was only confirming details published by the local newspaper BN/De Stem. The paper's source was not named, and police declined to comment. Gremmen said Hartmann has lived in the Netherlands since 2002 and that he had no fixed address. He said Hartmann had agreed to undergo psychological testing, and was now "terribly sorry for his deed." The victim, identified as Thijs Geers, was waiting for a train and had no connection with the suspect or the military. Online condolence registers in the Netherlands were flooded with thousands of messages of sympathy for him and his family.

I really liked that slogan, but to be realistic that will never be anything but wishful thinking. Baskın Oran can still generate the same noise if he wants to. The man is not impotent, but his cancer can regress any moment.

Marriage is another matter. Now that is a good reason to move to Armenia.

Ufuk Uras had the better chance of winning. Baskın Oran's campaign despite the massive support he received and the media-hype that surrounded it had little chance, if any, in succeeding. The Kurds would have never voted for him anyway. Unlike Ufuk Uras he never once visited the poorer districts of Istanbul or the working class people. He made some cosmetic visits here and there, but it wouldn't have changed much. Plus Ufuk Uras has a gentle, more pleasant demeanour that Baskın Oran clearly lacks.

The US and Canada along with Australia are the most popular places where a Bolsahye will immigrate. Maybe European countries like France and Germany too. I don't think they will ever consider any other country except these.

It's how you come across that is much more important here than the actual content itself. Even if it is related to genocide, style maybe his saving grace.

I don't think it is fear. There is always an undercurrent of unease among them. I think they want to belong, but they are made to feel as foreigners in their own land. I wish there was a Turkish Armenian member in Hyeforum as it is pretty strange for me as a Turkish person to write how Turkish Armenians might feel. My thoughts are second-hand accounts at best from what I can gather from my Armenian friends. They would be in a much better position to tell what they really feel like.

I know from my Armenian friends that many especially the younger Armenians want to leave Istanbul. The older generation intends to stay for sentimental reasons. It's not easy to leave your city of birth and many feel an obligation to preserve what's left. But I don't think they are truly comfortable in their skin and most yearn to leave.

You can sell your own personal property, but the state doesn't allow Armenian foundations (along with Greek and Jewish foundations) to sell their assets or buy new ones. I think they even went as far as to expropriate much of the real estate of Armenian foundations and give it back to their previous owners in 1974. To sum it up the foundations can't buy or sell their real estate or any other assets, but I don't know what the current situation is.

In the end Hrant Dink failed. People thought his death would lead to something positive, but no one can be that sentimental. Those feelings just last for a day until the funeral.
