  1. Greetings friends! It's been a long time since I checked in but wanted to introduce my new project to you. I have completed a new CD of beloved Armenian songs entitled "Armenian By Choice". As many of you know, I am not Armenian by birth, but have devoted a great deal of time to support Armenia and Armenian causes. This video clip will introduce you to the project. I hope you enjoy it! You can also read more about the project here. http://www.danieldecker.com
  2. Barev MosJan! Contrem! I am very proud to stand with my Armenian brothers and sisters!! By the way, where did you find this picture? I would love to find more pictures of the April 24 rally in Hollywood.
  3. Hello Arpa! The version of Cilicia you saw was one of my first perfomances of the song. I think the diction is much improved now that it was then. I worked on the diction quite a bit and many Armenian friends offered valuable advice on pronunciation. The biggest challenge was reconciling Eastern and Western Armenian. I have now recorded the song in a new arrangement for a new CD I am working on. Every song on the CD will be sung entirely in the Armenian language. I also plan to include an Armenian version of "Adana" and "Noah's Prayer" (also known as Moush). Several other songs have already been chosen and I am in the final stages of recording a duet with a great singer from Yerevan. I can try to keep everyone updated as it progresses.
  4. Hello again! I just wanted to let everyone know that I have finally gotten around to posting the Adana music video clip that I filmed in Armenia. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=candlelightmin There are also some other clips and interviews related to my work on behalf of Armenians. As time permits, I plan to post more video footage. hope you enjoy it. Daniel
  5. I am familiar with this musical. In fact, I met with the composers about a year ago when I was in Yerevan. The music is very much in the mold of Jesus Christ Superstar. They are both extremely dedicated to their work and would like to see this gain a wider audience abroad.
  6. The sample on my website is just a portion of the 7 minute song. The full song begins with a narrated portion describing some of the details of the genocide. I am hoping this song will raise awareness about the genocide and maybe in some small way lead to wider recognition of this tragedy. A few days ago, I sang the song in Los Angeles in two Armenian churches. There were many in the audience who lost family members during the genocide. As I was singing, I wanted to weep everytime I looked at someone in the audience. I finally had to finish the song with my eyes closed. I am beginning to put together a multimedia presentation to show in the background while I am singing the song in the future. I hope to show images of Armenia, as well as scenes of the genocide. The song is rather intense, but i feel the message needs to be heard.
  7. Greetings!!! I was just doing a little web surfing and discovered this forum. As my name has been mentioned in the thread, I thought I would reply. I am the author of the lyrics to the song Adana which was mentioned by a previous poster. The music was composed by Armenian composer Ara Gevorgian. In the lyrics, I set out to tell the story of the genocide. My wife is Armenian and I am a Christian. I have been deeply moved and affected by the genocide and have been to Armenia 5 times so far. I am not a historian or a theologian, just a man who has come to care about the Armenian people. I encourage you to check the song out and hope it will a blessing to you. Regards, Daniel Decker
