  1. Arpa,

I was laughing out loud at the stupid Israel quote that has been fabricated by Azeris. You know, ironically 200 years ago there WERE Armenians in those lands like in Jerusalem but there WERE NO Jews (they were all in Eastern Europe and North Africa/Iran). And ironically there were no Azeri nationality either 200 years ago.

But we have been and are a small nationally stuck between big powers, so harassing and continuously taking away our lands has become the thing for the big empires - be it Ottomans, Turkey, Russia...all the same too me. This kind of fowl language has been pre-fabricated by big nations to belittle minority groups within the empire limits and therefore justify the annihilation of the minority culture and the ultimate goals being is appropriation of lands. If indeed Pushkin said that crap, which I have heard has been taken out of the context, then he was simply being an instrument to the russian tsarist state or otherwise he was an idiot, either way....i don't really care.

  2. Hello guys,

you know what our Armenian issue is - we take AMEN MEKI ASATSE SIRTIN MOTIK

I don't give f... what Pushkin said about us, or what Putin, Michaelangelo or Barak Obama think about Armenians.

I know who I am and where I can from, some idiot's opinion does not concern me.

And if Pushkin is such a low life to go around blasting other nationalities then he does not deserve to be recognized as a great poet but simply an asshole, horny half breed who slept around St Petersburg then as a karma got killed by a guy who was sleeping with his own wife.

  3. Anoosh,

there is an armenian website that has a bunch of maps from different eras uploaded, I think it's called armenicum or armenica.org something like that, go there and search for the old yerevan maps, there is one map I remember from late 18th century that shows all the mosques as well as the quarters (like Armenian Quarter, Turkish Quarter etc.), it's a very interesting and enlightening map.

I have also read once about the azeri mosque being operational somewhere in yerevan prior to 1988, it was located in the middle of the "bak", but now it's gone.

    good luck!

  5. aratta,

the more educated and well-rounded people (as a generalization) normally come out more quakaquavari and these people are conceived by the more blue collar less educated as too soft. This phenomenon is omnipresent in pretty much every culture, each having its own versions of what is soft, miamit etc.

are you specifically talking about armenians?

  6. Not necessarily, generally speaking man prefer to watch sports, while females entertainment programs.

When was the last time you watched football, who was playing and what was the score? And to be fair, mine was Dynamo Kiev vs Shakhtar Donetsk, Channal 1 cup, January 31, Tel-Aviv. It was goalless until the very end of the game, where each scored a goal less then 5 minutes 'till the end of the match. in the extra time each scored a goal and the match was decided by penalty kicks. Dynamo won 2-2 (2-3 pk).

And yesterday I watched NBA's All star game. This one is a little bit tricky since its more of an entertainment then a competition. East won 134-128.

Avo, are you in Tel-Aviv? I really enjoyed russian tv on israeli stations :)

  7. es mnatsats@ chei drel!!!

Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Denmark follow just behind and financial reform in Western Europe is being accelerated by liberalization and tax cuts in East European countries like Estonia, which was ranked 12th.

The United States fell to 5th place from 4th last year, and was set back by relatively high tax rates following tax cuts in other advanced economies and by government spending amounting to more than a third of gross domestic product.

The annual survey published by the Wall Street Journal, ranks 157 countries and territories. The survey gauges the level of government interference in the economy and ranks countries based on scores in such categories as business, trade and investment freedoms; protection of property rights; freedom from corruption, and free movement of labor.

hima sranits vertsnelov karanq asenq vor Hayastan@ shat mets progressi mecha!!!

So when it comes to ranking Armenia's economic progress you TRUST U.S. academics? You are quoting Wall Street Journal, Heritage Foundations - can you guess where the people that work for these organizations went to school and got their degrees???

To be fair I think you should try quoting studies done in Armenia at Armenian higher educational institutions?

  8. This is just the begining, let me know if more is needed

    Tempus in Armenia

Well lets put it this way, this is NOT 1995 where the schools and universities were not funcioning as well, today Armenian Universities get higher ranks than a lot of countries around the world, including some of the higher educated countries!

Today Armenia is not the same as you people remember it ten years ago, please wake up people, while we sit down in here and criticise Armenia, they are learning and progressing beyond our imagination!!!

Ashot, nice listing of armenian higher education institutions' websites but I still did not see anywhere that any of the programs are the best in the world, did you find any rankings?

  9. Maral jan, there might be over 10,000 non Armenian in Armenia, keep in mind two facts, Armenia's Architechtural Institute is the highest in the world, as well as the Medical!!!

Ashot jan, how old are you tghas! Neither Armenia's Architectural Institute nor the medical ones are not even close to being the best in the world and they never have been and probably will be, please put aside unnecessary nationalism and you'll be a better Armenian...sometimes realizing what Armenians are bad at and working to improve it is a better thing than making "ridiculous statements" ...not to put you down but just try to understand what I mean.

  10. So this "should we marry them or not" has become a re-occuring topic on Hyeforum and on various other Armenian forums and chat rooms. For some reason I have never seen a topic about "Do THEY want to marry us?" I know, I know we are too good to be asked that question...etc etc. I have personally been an open-minded person throughout my life thinking that human beings should find each other FIRST and then discover each others' cultures, nationalities etc. But from my observations and life experiences actually most cultures discriminate against others specially when things come to marriage and kids. And from my experience others discriminate against Armenians as much as Armenians discriminate against others.

These days I am a proponent of an Armenian-to-Armenian marriage, not sure how I got here but it just makes more sense to me at the end of the day. Cheers!

  11. Alma,

most longer term members get along fine, I think. They have basically learned each others' Internet personalities.

The problem mostly are the new members who drop in either to spew anti-Armenian (these are not just turks unfortunately!) garbage or are trying to "save us" from this or that. I would not take anything else too seriously.
