  1. I think when we talk about the preservation of the Armenian identity we mean what kind attitude and mind-set we have regarding this issue. It’s very important to remain optimistic about the survival of the Armenian culture and the future of Armenia. We shouldn’t think about what will happen to the Armenian culture four generations from now (we could even guess that the whole world might not exist if nuclear wars break out), but we should concentrate on today’s generation of Armenians and encourage each other to remain Armenian. Let’s do our part today and hope that the next generation will do theirs.
  2. Yes Sasun, I'm not entirely a materialist. I believe in the existence of the soul. I guess I'd also like to believe in some kind of God, but I don't think I ever will.
  3. Yes, in a way I also think that spirituality is sought after, but I also think that one needs to have the will to seek spirituality... So I guess I mean that some people are born with the will to seek spirituality while other people might be indifferent towards it.
  4. Awww ... why the sad face? Does that mean they've been saying bad stuff about me?
  5. Wow, there is actually a moderators' corner and you people talk about the members behind our back???
  6. I wonder... Is the feeling/concept of spirituality something that a person is born with (much like being either musical or not) or is it something that can be acquired if one really tries hard enough? And if it can be acquired how can a person achieve it?
  7. Domino, I always think about that. And I often wonder why people choose to struggle with a hard life instead of, let's say, kill themselves? Really, it's so interesting - what makes people want to live? And what if someone is tired of searching for happiness? What makes him want to go on with his life? I think many people at one point become dissapointed at life yet we don't see people committing suicide by the masses... hmm, interesting...
  8. They seem to have similar attitudes like other homeless people who choose to remain homeless. Why would someone choose to live like that I just don't understand. I don't have any pity for them.
  9. Wow! You studied with Gohar Gasparyan at the Komitas Conservatory? When? I'm so envious of you! Sometimes I really wish I could have been studying piano at the Komitas Conservatory (my mom studied piano there) instead of here in the U.S. But that's great that you studied music. I'm so happy - I thought I was the only one in this forum who studies music formally.
  10. Thanks for this post Karine! Last year in my music history class I felt so good when the professor specifically mentioned that Luciano Berio's wife was Armenian. By the way, have you ever listened to Berio's compositions? They are rather "interesting" (if that's the correct word to use in this case).

    Joke

Ok, I admit, I don't get it. Care to enlighten me?.... Please? I'm curious. Can't wait!

    Joke

Koko, yerp targmanum es you mean how much did Retushe's weight increase. From your original joke the answer is by 14 grams, right? So the humor in this is that it's basically a blonde joke. Correct? Don't be upset, I think the simplicity of this made people think it's a lot more complicated.
  13. I apologize. I better not post here again since my only memories of Armenia would be of negative experiences. I don't want to spoil this beautiful thread. I love Armenia - I just happened to be there when it went through one of the worst years in its history. Of course Armenia is better now and keeps on improving, and I'm positive that I'll live to see Armenia becoming one of the best countries with the highest living standards in the world.
  14. Yeah, Azat, I remember my school lunches. The first semester in first grade we got a whole "bulky" with a glass of milk. The first half of the second semester we got a half "bulky" and towards the end it was a quarter. I'm not kidding. The second grade we had to buy our lunch or bring it from home. And the teachers repeatedly reminded those few parents who could afford a salami or bologna to not pack it in their kids' lunches since the rest of the kids would not be eating a salami but would forever long for it... Oh, and chocolate candy was not allowed. Of course, I'm telling of the '91, '92, '93 year in Gyumri. But I think everyone experienced this more or less in every school throughout Armenia at that time.
  15. Yes Armat, it truly is beautiful. Bach is my favorite composer. There is so much depth in his music. No other composer can be compared with Bach's genius. Karine, Tchaikovsky's 1st Piano concerto is one of my favorite concertos. What type of music is a French techno music?
  16. YES! It's a great idea Azat!!! Of course count me in!

Cello is such a sexy instrument ... Uhm, I mean (tall, attractive, of course) guys who play the cello seem so sexy Cello is the next best musical instrument - after the piano of course http://www.imageshack.us/files2/cellopiano.jpg http://www.imageshack.us/files2/cello.jpg
  19. I thought that the point of the Satan/Satan-baby was to symbolize that just like Jesus was born into mankind and brought goodness, the evil also reigned on Earth parallel to this goodness.
  20. No, I desperately want to meet an interesting guy (of course Armenian) but haven't had the luck of finding anyone that I could be interested in. I'm sorry to say most Armenian guys are shallow. And the more I grow the less attracted I am to guys who are not Armenians; I know I would never allow myself to date non-Armenians so I guess that's why I'm not attracted to them.
