I think many people use the sentence, 'I love you' as a means of getting a girl into bed these days without thinking that whether they actually mean it or not..

If someone you are dating says they love you, arranges to meet up but then keeps blowing you out the last minute coz they have something more important to go to, does that mean they have a ridiculously short term memory or is it that they are just messing you about and cant be bothered anymore!?

Well THOTH when it comes to relationships these days, nothing is set in stone is it..its never finished and its always evolving. If this is the case, then why do people still believe that its signed, sealed and delivered??

Yeah, I know THOTH... I supose life's all about having balance, if love makes you feel good, then you have to be prepared to be hurt also..its that pleasure/pain thang isnt it? Good/bad, hot/cold, happy/sad etc..everything works in pairs and neither can survive without the other - Just like in The Matrix, Neo (Good guy) needs Agent Smith (Bad guy) to become more powerful! Im seeing Matrix Revolutions tomorrow, is it any good???

...Or maybe they just dont want us to make the same silly mistakes they did when they were young and just want the best for us, but at the end of the day, listen to their advice coz thyve been through life more than you have. You do have a choice. Do what makes YOU happy. I lost my mother when I was 17yrs old and I was quite a rebellious teenager then..i didnt want to be told what to do, I just wanted to do everything my own way..and , yeah, It did hurt my mum when I didnt listen to her but things change and when I look back at it now, its funny coz all the advice my mum gave me then makes more sense now, than it did when I was younger! lol

Why is it that relationships never last? Is it because society gets bored quickers these days? Or are we just too fussy?

Love is a powerful feeling. It can hurt like hell and it can make you feel like your on cloud 9! Have you ever noticed that a majority of music around in the charts is about love! People longing to be in love, people falling in love and people being hurt by love...

I agree with that too! It is nice to have a challenge sometimes and vice versa - as the saying goes 'Treat them mean to keep them keen!'

Well of course not, but that is an extreme example! Im talking about those little things in love that we do, we do them coz we want to and not coz we have to...

I wouldnt call it love at first sight - lust at first sight makes more sense coz its the whole initial physical attraction that makes two people click in the first place.. its the eye contact, the smile, the whole physical thing and if they like what they see and are both up for it, then its definately a lust thing... if it then develops into something more meaningful and lasts, then its love.. and I can see why certain pple say that it was love at first sight coz they have been together from the first time they met, got married and had kids and 20 years down the line, they are still together now, it sounds so much better than just saying lust at first sight! LOL Some pple may think its love at first sight, coz of the pysical attraction, but after getting to know each other more, they realise they have nothing in commom whatsoever and end it! ie: lust at first sight! LOL

Yeah, there should be a degree of being selfish, not in a relationship - but perhaps in looking after No.1 which is yourself.. controlling your debts for example!! LOL

Totally agree with you there THOTH, there shouldnt be any hate in a loving relationship, if there is then, it needs to be delt with soon. If love hurts, it wont work.

Love is not conditional. You dont love in order to 'expect' or to 'get' something back in return, like 'tit for tat' you do it coz you love them unconditionally. I had a friend who was madly in love with this Spanish guy, she fell in love with him, but he was just using her for sex. She did everything to please him and he was enjoying that coz he always got his shag. One day, he tells her that hes lost his job at the hotel, so she agreed to help him find another job, she was helping him coz she wanted to-she loved him, & not coz she had to (everyone has a choice) so anyway, she dedicated a lot of her time to him, lent him money to pay his rent and eventually, he found a job. After all that effort she put in, she came to me crying one day and told me that she was unhappy coz she did all of this for him, yet, she didnt get anything back in return. I asked her, 'you did all this for him coz you expected him to return your favour? She said, yeah, I wouldnt have done it if I knew that I wouldnt get anything back in return! She didnt get any love, he ignored her calls, basically he didnt want to see her anymore coz he was busy shaggin other woman behind her back! This relationship didnt work coz both parties wanted different things, there was no give and take, no balance. It was about her giving for the wrong reasons and him just taking to get his pleasure and not giving back. When it comes to love, in any relationship; whether its family, friendship or your lover, there is always going to be 'give and take'. That balance is important coz its about sharing, its responsibility and its fair...if that balance is interuped, no relationship can survive. Like with many affairs, they happen coz the love balance is tipped. Someone is taking more or giving less and that is a bad sign until something gives and the balance is restored. Like I said before, its easy to fall in love when youve found the right person for you, but its in both your hands to make it last and continue working at it. Marriage/love is a bit like a wheel going round, you need to constantly keep an eye on it, lubricate it so it constantly keeps moving and dosent slow down or stop, sometimes it goes off the smooth road and goes over loads of bumps and ditches when your having bad times and argue a lot but keep at it and it will keep moving and hopefully go back on to the smooth road and your relationship is fine again. If there isnt any constant watching, no lubricating, no caring, then the wheel of love is going off the smooth road, into the many bumps, deep ditches and then just falls and dies.. make it last.

hehe thats how it should be...just a bit of fun but you always find peeps out there reading them in mags and news papers and taking it all toooo seriously!! LOL

I thought it was all about, finding someone who rocks your world, knows how you think without asking, totally on the same wavelengh as you, loves you for your good and bad habits, in all weathers and moods, even when your having the crappiest time of your life, they are there for you and you are there for them and continuing to evolve all the time... Falling in love is easy, making it last forever is a different ball of game!
