  1. Barev Tatev, Barov es ekel hay forum:) Dear Tatev, Sounds like he probably likes you more then a friend. How you ever thought about that? In my opinion why would a guy tell a girl how much he makes etc.. seems like he got some feelings toward you. Has he ever talked to you about marriage? This is truly confusing. I think he has a feelings toward you, otherwise why would a man care what his friends think about his car, home, or salary. I don't think if I was a male I would have care what my friends think about my car, home, or salary unless if I knew I am going to spend my life with that person, then in that case I will take his/her opinion in consideration. My guess will be maybe he has feelings for you and he does not feel comfortable when it comes to expressing his feelings. Dear Tatev I understand how hard it is to adapt new culture, but believe me you will get over it everything takes time. Good luck.

  3. What is destiny??? God's plan for you is your destiny; at the end of the tunnel, you look back and see that it was God's will all along." -- Prof. Carmen Ventanilla "Two years ago, I found my destiny. And yet, so did he, albeit with another. Just as people equate it with greatness, there are those who are also destined for much hurt and pain." -- Hazel Reside "Our destiny, or fate, is that unknowable, untouchable yet percievable sense of a hand sending you to some place or event. The idea that there is harmony and direction in the midst of chaos." -- Toby Nebrida "Destiny is believing in God's plan. God allows us to go through things in life for a purpose. He is behind everything that happens in our life. There is a biblical basis for this, Psalm 139, verses 13-16, which says that from the time we were born, God has already planned out our life for us. But this doesn't mean that we should be passive and let things be. In fact, we should even be more appreciative and grateful for the things that happen in our lives, even the burdens and the trials, because these are all part of God's wonderful plan for us. Everything happens for a reason. Every joy, every tear, every triumph, every loss is part of the tapestry of life that God is weaving for us, until we reach the point where our purpose here on earth has been fulfilled." -- Tala Maralit "Destiny is like gravity. If you're somewhere up and then you stop clinging on to something, certainly you will fall. But whose choice was it to go up and let go? Destiny is not absolute. We make choices all the time." -- Rene Lopos "Destiny is where we end up as a result of our own free will, which God, in his infinite love, has given us." -- Cecille Santos "I guess I do believe in end destiny. Life is just so much more romanticized with it. When something good happens, like living your dreams or meeting a soulmate type person, you can always say it was always meant5 to be. And doesn't that sound so much more mystical than 'it just kinda happened.' Believing in destiny also make's life's uncertainties so much easier to bear. I mean you won't really force yourself or a person, because you believe that if it was meant to be, even if you try to run away from it,the stars will still conspire for that single event to happen, or in some cases for you and another being to end up together." -- Christian Parlade "I believe that life is predominantly in our hands. We cannot blame any other force or some people for what we are and for what happens in our lives. But I also accept that there are some givens in our life, like we are born in a particular point in history, at a particular place, to particular parents. Many things of nature have special characteristics which we cannot change, like the sun rises in the east, water runs downwards, a day has only 24 hours, etc. This is what we call nature. But we still have the power to adapt ourselves to this nature and direct our own life." -- Father William Maria "DESTINY IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT. KARMA, THE LAW OF CAUSE AND EFFECT, IS ONLY THE MECHANISM OF DESTINY. WHATEVER YOU THINK, FEEL, DO OR SAY HAS AN EFFECT, GOOD OR BAD. THAT'S WHY WE HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WITH THE CHOICES WE MAKE IN ANY GIVEN LIFETIME. BECAUSE THE OUTCOME OF THE EFFECTS OF OUR DECISIONS, WE SHALL EXPERIENCE IN THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE, IN THE DISTANT FUTURE, OR EVEN IN A FUTURE LIFE. WE EXERCISE FREE WILL IN EACH MOMENT. MOMENT TO MOMENT, WE CREATE OUR DESTINY. AND IN THE END, WE ARE ONLY A PRODUCT OF THE CHOICES WE MAKE." -- AUGUST TAMBUNTING

  11. Dear Gamavor read this I believe it will be helpful. God Exists and Loves! “It is perplexing that some people, with very little knowledge of how the universe works, would come to dispute God’s existence. Coming up with a fantastic theory like the Big Bang, they are claiming that the universe came out of nothing. We don’t understand their true intentions. Are they trying to discover how the universe began or are they just overthrowing our faith in God? Let us be careful in receiving information such as this. Scientists only have assumptions to make when it comes to explaining the universe. How can they marvel at the grand design of the universe, yet deny the existence of the Grand Architect? We believe in God because we exist. If our existence is not enough to convince the agnostics or atheists that God exists, then there are ten reasons why they should change their mind. These ten important truths are: Love. Has any scientist explained clearly the nature of love? Unless he loves truly, a scientist cannot tell what love is. If he knows how to love, he can only explain it by experience and not through the microscope or telescope. Does he deny the existence of love? If he believes in love, how can he fail to believe in God? "God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in Him." (I John 4:16) "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." (I John 4:7-8) Conscience. There is a universal law in us that enables us to tell the right from the wrong. We call them conscience. We feel guilty when we commit a sin or offend someone. According to the Bible, even those who have not heard the Gospel have the requirements of the law written in their hearts. (Romans 2:15) Knowledge. We are God's superior creation, and a proof of this is our ability to assume, theorize and think on our own. We are free to analyze our own existence and think about eternity. Some of us are even questioning the existence of God. The Bible knows this and warns the people against falling into the same trap. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and their ways are vile. (Psalm 53:1) Many people had denied the existence of God in the past but all of them are now forgotten. "The wisdom of the wise will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish." (Isaiah 29:14) The Bible. The Word of God is contained in the Bible, which explains the wonderful truth about creation, existence, love, joy and holiness. "By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of His mouth." (Psalm 33:6) Despite the publication of many books about the big bang theory or the theory of evolution, God keeps His Word in the heart of the believers. "There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord." (Proverbs 21:30) Written two thousand years ago, the Bible is still a bestseller today. "The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God stands forever." (Isaiah 40:8) Scientific Truths. While the Bible speaks of spiritual truths, it also conveys truths that can be observed by human senses and understanding. Foremost of these truths is the Bible's description of the universe. "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands." (Psalm 19:1) Before Galileo was born, the Bible was already comparing the stars in heaven with the sand on the seashore. (Genesis 22:18) The Bible also revealed that the earth is circular and the universe is expanding. "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in." (Isaiah 40:22) Israel. The Old Testament in the Bible had documented the history of Israel from Abraham to the 12 sons of Jacob (12 tribes of Israel). Beyond recording the events in Israel, the Bible had precisely foretold the future of Israel and the world. First, the Bible talked about the destruction of Jerusalem, and the spread of the Jews around the planet. We know how Israel was overtaken by other countries and how the Jews fled their homeland to seek refuge in other countries. We know how the Nazis tried to annihilate the Jews and we know how God miraculously saved them and brought them back to Israel. Before this happened, the book of Zechariah was already conveying this prophecy. This is what the Lord Almighty says, "I will save my people from the countries of the east and the west. I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem; they will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God." (Zechariah 8:8) Population. If the claims of scientists that men have been living on earth for millions of years now were true, then the earth's resources should have been depleted a long time ago. It would take only a few thousand years for men and women to fill the earth with their children. For example, a very old man named Abraham who lived about four thousand years ago was the father of many nations. "And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore." (Hebrews 11:11) Of course, if it were not for wars, calamities and plagues, the earth would have run out of space for humans. The first year of Jewish calendar was 3760 B.C. Progress. It is hard to imagine how a chaotic disorder like the big bang would result in orderly concepts like democracy or how a loud explosion in the stars would eventually cause music. How is it that humans appreciate beauty and are able to create arts if existence really began as a disaster? Life on earth is a process, growth or progress. From an infant, a human becomes an adult capable of reasoning and doing things. "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die." (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 in part) The fact that men live in harmony with nature and that we desire progress in every thing - from resources and recognition - is a manifestation that Someone is in control. In the Book of Colossians, Paul referred to Jesus Christ as the Son of God who controls all things. "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:15-17) Time. Scientists do not believe in eternity, because they explain things according to their sensory experience of the world. Their observation is mainly confined to the physical world where time seems to dictate everything. They deny God because they think that time has a beginning and an end. The book of Genesis, the first book in the Bible, says: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." There is eternity because there is God. He is "from all eternity." (Psalm 93:2) "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty." (Revelation 1:8) Spiritual Truth. Apart from our sensory experience of the world, men also live in spiritual truths. The joy that poor people have when worshipping the Lord is brought about by their recognition of these truths that are revealed to them by the Holy Spirit. Scientists who analyze things according to their sensory experience of the physical world are not able to see the spiritual truth. "For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:18) Only those who have accepted the grace of salvation offered by Jesus Christ can recognize and embrace these truths. "We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned." (I Corinthian 2:12-14) Aside from the ten truths mentioned above, there are a million reasons why we should believe and glorify God, the One who created the universe and put man on top of all His creation. He was there before time began and will be there after the end of the universe. "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come." (Revelation 4:8 in part) God oversees all things. "From heaven, the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from His dwelling place, He watches all who live on earth." (Psalm 33:13-14) "He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:17) To those who continue to deny God's existence and doubt His Word, the Bible contains these verses: "The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know." (I Corinthians 8:1 in part). "The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the Word of the Lord, what kind of wisdom do they have?" (Jeremiah 8:9) To find wisdom, let us approach the One who is the source of our existence. "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5) We must understand, however, that in order to understand the Word of God, we have to know and embrace the fundamental truth - that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came down from heaven to die for our sins and give us eternal life. Jesus said: "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the Good News." (Mark 1:15 in part)”
  12. Hi I have found that almost anyone can shrug off an argument. So I want to deliver some more. The first is to get you to consider anything outside of Atheism. And this has its own parts. Atheism is saying that there is no God. Is this not saying something without any proof? If the burden of proof what shifted to the person who said this, then the person would come up empty handed. This empty of proof posture is the same as the posture that the Atheist would say that religions have. So in the Atheist own logic, Atheism must be a sort-of religion, and by their own ideas, as valid as any other. If I had to try to construct a defensible structure, I would choose Agnostic – one who doubts, and says we can not know. But to doubt is to allow the possibility of the other side being right. I came to God separately from being a Christian. My crossover point is ‘Why is there beauty?’. I may be able to understand the pleasing appearance of something biologically desired, as in food or a mate, but I can not understand why I find sunsets/sunrises beautiful. If I was nothing but an animal who reasons and feels, this is a strangeness. We in this forum have all felt changes in our lives, and small things we call miracles. Now my former stance when agnostic/atheist was that there were no miracles. Had to be – miracles would imply an outside power. So what is a miracle? For me it was that something prayed for happened. Sometimes the miracle can be as simple or as complex as someone having a change of heart. And sometimes it was something in the real physical universe happening at a time and place that was unlikely, but done via processes that could be explained. And sometimes it is something that was completely outside of any expectation. I have been content with the small stuff, I have not experienced the big stuff. But any miracle accepted by a person will break a logical posture of ‘there can not be miracles’. was/is?”. Your post proclaims him only a man. The actions of the apostles were not those of people following only a man. The Romans were seriously into punishment as deterrence. They may have had their equal for inflicting pain and woe, but they are up there in the top bunch for such. Yet the apostles took a stance that would and did lead them to a nasty way of dying. None of them died rich. This was not a show of faith for personal gain – this was the abandonment of personal gain for faith. And check their attitudes – this was a message that *had* to get out, at any cost to the messenger. So the Romans became even more nasty – see the flaming human torches. And still people came to Christianity. Much of this is covered in some other places, and likely better. There was a Roman person who said that the Roman gods may be false, but they were needed for the state to maintain civilization. This is not the Christian attitude. Sorry if this is untidy, I really felt inspired to publish it.

  16. Ara and Hagarak Well I truly do not know what to say after all, it is heart felting to see people like you who would criticize it’s own nation as I mentioned once we can see all good and bad in any other nations, countries, religion etc... Let me illustrate my point by giving you a true life example. I have a coworker who is very heavy, and most of the people in community were making comments about her wieght, but she always stood for her herself. And the amazing part is right now, no one of us considers her heavy person anymore because she did not let other’s to get on her,( it does not mean she closed our eyes and became a skinny person. No! but what she basically did she made other’s to see that there were so many heavy people in other places as well) , same comes for the nation part if we start criticizing our own people, culture etc.. then do not expect others stay calm. Aren’t there any heavy people in any other countries? Same comes to the nationality part aren’t there good and bad in other countries? I only gave you this example, but same comes for being tall or short, having ugly face etc….. you can find in any other courtiers as well. Ara and Hagarak why would you look at Armenians from Turkish perspective? So my point is if you as an Armenian start criticizing your own nation then do not expect others see your people, language etc.. in a positive ways. I am not saying we are perfect, but if criticism is so good then why don’t we start from other countries and leave Armenians alone.

  18. Qristine, If you have been raised within the Armenian community, you will be blind to the elements of the Armenian psyche that are detrimental. First off we are very intolerant of those who are innovators. There is a fundamentalist element to Armenian groupthink. When I visted Armenia a young Yerevantzi woman befiended me on the tour bus. I do not think she was aware of my true age. I think she found me attractive. When the conversation turned to food and I told her that I was a Vegan (a very strict vegetarian) she got up from the seat next to mine, stated that she does not approve of Armenians who give up their religion to become Hindus and did not speak to me during the remainder of the tour. As for American Armenians, they are so hung up on pecuniary wealth. There is little respect for scholarship for the sake of scholarship, only how large a house and other material things it will bring you. In my youth, whenever I proposed doing something novel during an Armenian committee meeting, I was shotdown. I will never forget the reaction I got whne I proposed to get Cher, Adrienne Barbeau and other Armenian movie stars to host an Armenian telethon. A group of Armenians ganged up on me, stating that Cher was a "fallen woman" and that Barbeau was only 1/2 Armenian. I could go on and on but Baliozian is much more eloquent and much more thorough in delineating the dysfunctions of the Armenian community. Hagarak, So did you converted your religion to Hindu? Maybe she was surprised to see Armenian with a different religion (lol) Well what I would suggest is that you can not compare one person with entire nation. There are so many Hindus, Africans, Russians, etc... who also do not approve people who give up their own religion for some other religions one thing you have to except is that not everyone on this world you meet is going to like you. That is immposibility. Hagarak I was raised in both invoirments in Armenian community and American, so my camparison is from my own experience.
  19. My self I am geting tired of seing his name because I know what I will read in his articals. The same critisism over and over , reading his articals it must be a miracle that we Armenians had survived bieng as bad as he and Hagarag thinks we are . There must be something good in us . Absolutely there is so many good in us that many us don't even relize it yet. I wonder why Ara does not see the good in us? Being a way from Armenia should give him more understanding who Armenians really are what they have been through, and feel that close knit toward his nationality. Critisizing like most of us allready said it is not helping armenians, it is not problem solving. I personally also grew up in foreign country but I love my culture and my people. If you take my Armenianism away from me, you might as well close the book on my life. Nothing moves me more than performing to a non-Armenian audience, sharing our unique and rich culture with people, and have them understand why we are so proud of who we are. This is what I try to get across to each and every member to be proud that they belong to a unique culture and a strong people who know how to survive and live again. The words of the famous Armenian-American writer William Saroyan fits here the best; “For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a new Armenia”. God bless those words because that is what we are doing right now - creating an Armenia in the Diaspora. Dser hogin bartr paheq hayer jan.

  23. My ex-wife would always claim that she was perfect, not needing to change in any way. Raised within the Armenian community, one should not expect any different attitude. I was raised among odars. I can see what is wrong with us from the outside. Baliozian is my guru. And if I may ask what is exacly wrong with us? No one is perfect in this world of course , but I really would like to hear your perspective what do you really ment by being wrong?
