Harut
does there exist anything that can be considered unnatural?isn't everything and every action natural?
vava
Touching your right hand to your right elbow is unnatural. Believe me - i've seen it done. Very unnatural.. Seriously though, if by unnatural you mean 'manipulated by man' as opposed to naturally occuring without any intervention by man, then there is MUCH that is unnatural. angel4hope
well everything unnatural has to have come from something that once was natural- like plastic- it itself may be unnatural but its components and base chemicals are natural- there has to have been something that can be used for man to make something from it- if u catch my drift here---- all these manmade chamicals and artificial things have components of th basic hydrogen, oxygen, carbon...eveything on the periodical table- but with diferentreactions and combinations- therefore before something is unnatural- it has to have been natural at one point.........considering physical objects and so forth- but sociologically and psychologically- thats a different story
Harut
vava,my concern is exactly that. isn't man a natural phenomenon? wouldn't anything he/she does be considered natural? angel4hopei understand you, but i wouldn't even think that, let's say computer isn't a natural object. i mean, what's the difference between computer and, let's say apple? true, computer doesn't grow on tree, but human, a natural being, takes certain components, puts them together, and make computer, just like tree takes minerals, water, sunshine, etc and "make" apple. am i going crazy here? Stormig
The concepts of "chastity," "virginity," "celibacy," etc., are unnatural.

sev-mard
I think it's natrual for humans to believe their way is right, but that is unnatural. Because you have believe that humans will naturally have their own ways, which aren't right or wrong, merely theirs. To me that's the biggest thing, that people believe that their natural ways should be natural for everybody. That's unnatural.... peace

gamavor
Harut, are you starting to think like the naturalists such as the French writer Zola? When speaking of naturalism Boris Vian says it all! French have traditions in being unnaturally natural! http://www.toadshow.com.au/rob/vian/vian.htm
Stormig
With the evolution of man-unkind, the range and extent of impacts have "progressed." I do think that things altered or conducted anthropogenically will be unnatural. Plastic is one example. Drinking cow's milk is another. Ever heard of a giraffe drinking suine milk? "Unnatural" is defined in reference to natural. But "natural" is defined individually. Thus these 2 concepts cannot be rigid.
