Pre World War I Names of Armenian / Kurd Villages, i.e. SINCIK

Is there a list that correlates pre-WWI names of Armenian and/or Kurd Villages that have been renamed post WWI ? I am particularly interested in the names pre-WWI and post-WWI of villages between Malatia and Aidiaman and Aidiaman and Urfa.

For example, what was previous name of the village of SINCIK, which is north of Kahta?

Hisni Mansur

 

حصن منصور

 

Derived from the arabic word Hisn (citadel) and the arabic name Mansur.

 

 

In Armenian maps, the name of this place in medieval times is "Harsan Msour" (Հարսան Մսուր), which means "Bride's byre" or "fairy's byre".

 

Hisni Mansur is in the western side of the river, at the eastern side is "Vartana" village (Վարդանայ). "Vartana" in Armenian means ''of Vartan''.

Severek

 

This is from two Armenian words; "sev" (black) and "averak" (ruin). Therefore; Sevaverak > Severek.

I think the place name "Gargar" is still the same. Gargar, was also a citadel. Literally in Armenian means "emery rick".

Sometimes ago, I met an Armenian from keakhta and a syrian christian. I wrote about this here.

 

If i am not wrong, they mentioned "Narinja" also.

 

 

- Կողբենիք (Goghpenik),

 

At the Western bank of western Euphrates, Very close, and between Aghin and Gaban-Maden (Keban).

 

 

- Իմրոն (Imron),

 

North west from Gargar to Malatia.

 

 

 

- Կարմուճ (Karmouj),

 

How to forget the pure Armenian village Karmouj, near Urfa.

 

 

- Չնքուշ (Chenkoush),

 

Northeast from Keakhta.

 

 

- Ջերմուկ (Jermouk) near Chenkoush; southeast:

 

 

Generally, I mentioned the the towns, the big villages and the cities. I know.

 

I don't have information about small villages.
