Dave
There have been many earthquakes in Armenia throughout the years, but strangely, they're not discussed in Armenian history books. Encarta says that over 60 000 Cilician Armenians died in the 1268 - one of the worst earthquakes of recorded history. Aroung 230 000 people died in in a 1138 earthquake in nearby Aleppo. Let's not forget about the earthquake that shaked northern Armenia in 1988, and killed 45 000 people and let hundreds of thousands of Armenians homeless. http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/s...000/2544077.stm Does anyone have more information about earthquakes in Armenia? Anoushik
Aroung 230 000 people died in in a 1138 earthquake in nearby Aleppo. Wow, that's a huge number. How do they know about that statistic? Why would so many people die? How were the houses built? Let's not forget about the earthquake that shaked northern Armenia in 1988, and killed 45 000 people and let hundreds of thousands of Armenians homeless. http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/s...000/2544077.stm Does anyone have more information about earthquakes in Armenia? That number is too high. Around 25,000 people who died in the earthquake.
