Wow, the male wit is overflowing in this thread. Let’s see who gave the wittiest most cutting edge and innovative reply. Although it’s a very tough choice I would have to go with Sip’s answer. I mean what a response, what a masterpiece, it’s worth two golden sweaty socks, Bravo Seap, you have done it again!!!

Now in terms of my question, it is obvious from such clever answers that men want women to know that they like to play “Dentist, Dentist.” Except I am tired of pulling male teeth.

Ani and Maral, I think we might as well answer the question ourselves. After all, who knows men better than women...

Number 1: Stop talking.

Precisely! Also Amy's answers are to the point. Also "What's wrong?" that's a fatal question when you see that something is really wrong. Ask that question enough times and you are bound to make the volcano erupt. I learned it the hard way, not only would it open the Pandora's Box but also add on some other problems triggered by the inquisitiveness, and all you wanted to do is help. Now I ask twice, if the answer is still "Nothing" I call a friend and we go dancing, let him sulk, I tried my best.

Another point would be stroking their ego. They want you to naturally pick up on when they are feeling a little insecure and start mentioning their superb intelligence and ability. Recently on a date with a substantially intelligent guy we got into a discussion on asceticism and art. I weaved a complex web and provided a strong argument, he tried to solidify his opposition but got tangled in his points. I noticed his frustration, so I responded with "It's so great that you've brought up such valid points, I have never thought of it that way. I gotta say that you've helped me explore the possibilities I haven't realized before." Let me tell you how dramatically his behavior changed. His posture straightened, his shoulders expanded and there was a sense of pride reflecting in his smile. He asked me if I want anything else, and was so overly attentive. I was amused at how easy it is to flatter a man, and made him feel so happy. However it was done with sincerity (I never flatter falsely although I may exaggerate a bit). I think that if a man tried to do the same to a woman, she would be certain that he's trying to get in her knickers. Do men want women to stroke their ego, without having to tell them that? And to what extent?

By the way, thanks to sev-mard and gurgen for being the only ones to give a serious answer.

Truthfully it will take a certain type of man to accept "ego-stroking" with humility. The world is a game where men are hungry and aggressive chasing women in whatever fashion possible. So it's normal that women receive more attention from more random men, and for better or worse they become used to it. Usually if a guy begins to get some admiration and flirting from a girl, his male mind tells him that she want's him because "he's a pimp" or "he's special". More confident males who are also somewhat used to attention can probably take compliments and the like in stride, now if the woman is extremely attractive, the probablity of lowers slightly because hey, what's better than "ego-stroking" by an attractive lady, it's a combination hard to resist.

I think there are guys out there who enjoy the banter of flirting without digging too much into it. I personally do, it's a fun exercise and keeps one's verbal skills at a higher level than day-2-day conversations about basketball, work and getting with girls. ;)

That, most of the time, they should leave control to men.

So we are back to our ancient discussion where we became two furious rivals? Well actually one of us did, I was just enjoying your company. I really wonder if it's true, do most men really want that control? Does that make them special and wanted? Do they like that paternal nurture? Perhaps Nabokov was a genius for creating the Lolita syndrome.

Yes, all normal men want control most of the time. Evelina, there is no reason to dig it deep. This instinct is there and it is a fixed emotion. I told you then if you take it out all the basis is destroyed. It doesn't make e.g. me either special or wanted. It is like being hungry.

Asking men to reject their drive for control is like asking women to reject their natural necessity to be attractive and wanted.

Nabokov described an exagerated animalistic instinct. His hero is not an existing dominating phenomenon. It is an anomaly because most human being apart from their insticts and emotions have spirit, although they reject it.

I disagree a bit Mr. Sarq. I don't need to railroad my female but she can't railroad me either. In the words of my good friend, and probably someone else in history, "I don't have to be the boss, but nobody is the boss of me."

I disagree with you as well. That just meant that you do not have any serious connection or relationship. It's like: "whatever"...

?

I don't have a serious relationship because I don't desire to control my girl?

I think that it's easy to "give in" to "inherent" control mechanisms as men. Yet is this really true? I mean if I had total control of my female and she did whatever I wanted without really questioning it, I'd be bored personally. I mean what's the point of that.

Being a dominant, normal guy is easy, to me, that is "whatever"

Men's 5 Biggest Complaints About Women

By Laura Snyder

We know you've been reading all those women's magazines looking for ways to turn your guy into the perfect man, but we've got news for you. There are a few adjustments he wouldn't mind making to you. Here, his five biggest complaints.

You Gossip

He doesn't get the perverse pleasure you find in criticizing a complete stranger's weight, clothes and hair. And is there some kind of secret girl crime committed if her shoes don't match her handbag? Your own friends are even immune to your attacks. The men we spoke with suggested you swap your catty remarks with something more constructive, like mud wrestling.

You Can Be Too Needy

Part of the reason he tunes you out so frequently is because he's tired of your unabating need for his reassurance of how special you are, how solid the relationship is, and how trustworthy he is. Maybe you could just let him leave the house a few times without giving him the third degree over where he's going, who he'll be with and when he'll be back.

You Test Us

From the classic "What are you thinking?" to the dangerous "Is she prettier than I am?," he feels like you're always testing him with trick questions to determine if you're really soulmates. Just once he'd like to give you an honest answer. (And that's "nothing" and "yes", in that order).

You Did Let Yourself Go

Oh, you claim you haven't, and you can even point out that you still have all that sexy lingerie (which you never wear), but you're not nearly the dolled-up sex kitten you were when you two started dating. Yes, you can be cute all curled up in our old sweats without make-up, but he doesn't really want to see you with that facial bleach stuff on. Ever.

You Use Sex As a Weapon

He thinks it's so evil the way you can withhold nookie when you're annoyed with him. It's even worse when you do it in conjunction with that whole "I'm not mad" thing when he knows you are (he just don't know why). Maybe next time he'll hold out on you.

Yeah, you're right. That'll never work.

Sevmard, I think we misunderstood each other. I did not cliam that men should always control women. Nither did I mention that the situation when male totaly controls female is OK. I said that all normal men want to control most of the time. I also answered Eve's question by saying that I wish that women new that most of the time they should leave control to men.

Control is not about spooking after her. If you're in a serious relationship you spend a lot of time together. And you have to make collective decisions about various things. I mean you cannot vote on that, can you? Someone naturaly gets in charge of some issues. There is a certain set of issues where men see their position as a decision maker as a privilege ("what curtains to buy for the place?" is not among them). You could even surrender those as a joke, make fun...That's OK. But sometimes, somehow it gets serious. And for some periods it gets serious more often. If you give in at that moment you're broke. Or should I say, if a woman does not understand that she should back down at that moment, she's not a woman.
