SAS, what discipline of mathematics do you specialize in? In any case, mathematics dosen't offer "green card" at all.

SAS,

You have better chances of finding a job in the US as a good programmer than as a good mathematician. Nevertheless, which area of math have you been specialized in?

How sad... There is virtually no market for these jobs in the US outside academia, which is neither realistic aspiration (to try to get in) nor worthwhile.

So, again, you would be better off as a programmer, however, there are jobs that may utilize your knowledge of analytic geometry and linear algebra, for example. You should look in the area of visualization software for the mechanical engineering industry, for example (CAD/CAM type). Unfortunately, I have been away from that side of industry for so many years that my knowledge on the state of the market is not current.

Who have you worked with in the area of function theory or geometry in Armenia?

SAS what kind of programming do you do? In what language(s)?

Have you submitted your resume to tech job offering web sites?

By the way don't expect to get very fast results even if someone will agree to become a sponsor. I have some experience in this. Email me if you need some more information.

Garo,

the language is C++.

In the firma EuroSoft I devoleped geometrical library to solve some problems in 3D and 2D spaces,

solved special matematical problems such as

-triangulation;

-construct roof;

-hidden line problem (vector model);

-grid generation for solving mechanics problems using finite elements method

and etc.

SAS,

The experience you described to Garo was what I meant as useful one in my previous recommendations of looking at the visualization software market. I am sure Garo would be a better adviser for you on that capacity.

I suck at mathematics, but i was reading this and wondered if we in Holland would have need of such people, for example at Philips in Eindhoven. But then I see you mention Arcon and the president of that company is my friend ... just wanted to bring that in They fabricate connectors, right?

Oooooooooepss .... Arcon is a program as well? ... Just forget I was here and posted this, ok?

B.t.w. MJ, thank you for teaching me how to edit, I have been editing like a maniac ever since

SAS I'd suggest you to make a resume and post it on tech job databases first. Then try to participate in the newsgroups and mailing lists about the subjects you have experience and give some good advices to others. I know a few guys who got good job offers this way.
