Accelerated
article from Sydney Morning Herald: http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2004/04/20/main_beckhamhair,0.jpg Becks' close shave April 21, 2004 David Beckham seized the front pages of all of Britain's popular tabloids on Tuesday by simply having a haircut. Beset by continuing allegations of extramarital flings the Real Madrid and England soccer star appeared in London on Monday night with a freshly shorn scalp, attracting maximum attention to yet another show of unity with wife Victoria. The front pages of The Sun, the nation's biggest-selling daily, and the Daily Star showed Beckham planting a kiss on the forehead of his beaming wife, the former "Posh" Spice Girl. The Daily Mirror fronted a picture of Victoria looking adoringly at her husband, while the Daily Mail and the Daily Express preferred the couple striking a fashionable pose. The pair's appearance at a private party at the Royal Albert Hall in London smothered coverage of a second televised interview with Rebecca Loos, Beckham's former personal assistant, who claims they had a 10-day fling. Beckham has called her story "ludicrous". Since the story broke two weeks ago, the Beckhams have publicly appeared smiling and united on the ski slopes, shopping in Madrid, at home in suburban England, at dinner and now partying in London. The Daily Mail devoted an inside page to five pictures of the couple posing, under a sceptical headline: "So is Posh trying too hard?" Loos, in contrast, got little attention for her live interview on Monday on the Richard and Judy TV show. Loos, 26, suggested that she wouldn't have had a fling with Beckham if his wife had settled with him in Spain after he transferred to Real Madrid. "I feel that if there hadn't been a gap in that bed, I wouldn't have been in it," Loos said. A second woman, Malaysian-born Australian model Sarah Marbeck, also claims to have had an affair with Beckham from July 2001, two years after his marriage. Max Clifford, a public relations executive who is advising Loos, was quoted in Monday's Evening Standard as saying Loos so far has made media deals worth Ј800,000 ($1.94 million), including Ј350,000 for an exclusive interview with the News of the World, the Sunday tabloid that broke the story. Beckham's hair exerts a peculiar fascination in Britain, and each style change is attentively covered. Recently he had worn his hair long, but other variations have included a mohawk, spikes and cornrows. beckhams haircut gets frontpage news when their own soldies are fighting and dieing in Iraq! gurgen
You should visit London. It's really disgusting. You'd think Beckham is their prime minister. And he can't even play football that well

bellthecat
I wonder why the word "brutally" is in inverted commas - perhaps journalists in Armenia are now all used to being assaulted in a "kindly" way? http://groong.usc.edu/news/msg84855.html Armenian journalist "brutally" beaten up during rally dispersal Mediamax news agency 13 Apr 04 YEREVAN Gayk Gevorkyan, correspondent of Haykakan Zhamanak Armenian Times newspaper, was brutally beaten up by police during the dispersal of an opposition rally last night. Accelerated
You should visit London. It's really disgusting. You'd think Beckham is their prime minister. Yes, they have made a God out of a half-wit <_< . And what page did it appear in in the Sydney Morning Herald, I wonder? the article was online. And when was your last posting about Iraq, I wonder? The last thread started by me was on Iraq: 'Beginning of the end' ...and I dont think we should be confusing culture and censorship. According to your own politicians Britain is at war not only in Iraq but with terrorists at home, how appropriate is it to have two half-wits dominating the news? Mind you, I doubt Blair has any regrets, more coverage of beckham means less coverage of the war(s).
Nakharar
At least they didn't put something as irrelevant and flimsical as their British colleagues. Well I think the British should be envied afterall, since there is nothing more urgent to put on their frontpages.

Nakharar
Having sex with Beckham apparently pays. That Dutch woman received £300,000 for the tabloids and £150,000 for her TV interview. I'm thinking of posting my story as well. Now that's going to cause a commotion. Ahh, the things I have to go through to get my Jag and villa in the Carribean.
