Armenian Schools Losing Structure?

According to some of my fathers friends who have attended Armenian Private schools in Los Angeles and the Boston region back about 20 years ago say they were really good schools.

Today, I go and research on my own just how "good" they still are, and to me, they are a waste of money.

I have noticed that the kids there, are no more the same as public school kids just with more money. Armenian culture, Armenian Art, or Armenian language is not inforced in class rooms or during break periods.

And most Children who attend the school do not even speak Armenian, and after graduation still do not know it...

Are Armenian schools seriously in need of more stricter curiculum? a concerned teens point of view...YES.

what, you all send Private Messages to one another planning on not responding?

No,but if you want discussion, stop phrasing everything as if you're picking a fight. Try to be a little less combative, and then maybe somone might give you the time of day...

Well, for what it's worth, (and since you asked so nicely!):

I have never been to an Armenian school. The only experience I have with Armenian schools, is watching my nieces and nephews (who all attend/have attended Armenian school). They ALL speak much better Armenian than I do, write much better Armenian than I do - heck, some of them play chess much better than I do. And as far as culture goes, they know more Armenian songs, stories, literature and mythology than what I've been able to learn without Armenian schooling. Conclusion? I think Armenian schools are MUCH more than just public schools... and I don't think you have to force kids to speak/sing/dance Armenian, they'll learn it all just fine. Just being in an environment with Armenian teachers and Armenian peers, should be extremely beneficial.

I cannot comment on any specific school, or the curiculum they offer . I haven't enough first hand experience to have a valid opinion. Are other students in your classes of the same/or similar opinion?

If you are so concerned, you should speak to your teachers/principal, or even your parents. If you don't feel challenged enough, try to enroll yourself in classes at higher level. Good luck.
