USING A KNIFE A LUNATIC KILLS THREE ARMENIANS FOLLOWING A SEIZURE

The Nuzha area witnessed a tragic incident yesterday when a former

employee at the Arab Scientific Academy suffered an intense seizure as

he is being treated for having multiple personalities for 15 years

now. He grabbed a knife and stabbed his 75 year old neighbour, and his

daughter killing them, he then went down stairs and ran into a third

neighbour whom he also stabbed to death.

Passers by gathered in front of the residential building at Haroun el

Rasheed Street in Nuzha watching the situation in total disbelief,

some rushed to call in the police that soon arrived and arrested the

defendant.

The tragic events took place yesterday when Hagon Axel Jean (sic) (75

years old) an Armenian/Egyptian national was surprised to hear someone

knocking at his front door. As he attempted to open the door he

noticed that it was his next door neighbour Muhammad Mustafa Kamal el

Toumi (48 years old) a former employee at the Academy of Scientific

Research, and well known to suffer from mental problems. The attacker

was holding a knife when he used to stab his victim many times over.

When Jean's (sic) daughter Fayanha Jean (sic) heard her father's cries

she rushed towards the defendant who quickly stabbed her. She and her

father fell into a pool of blood, and died instantly. The defendant

was quick to rush downstairs where he met his other neighbour Mary

Yarmakian entering the building. He stabbed her, she died soon after

at the Heliopolis hospital.

The director of Cairo police investigators, the head of the East Cairo

police investigators unit, and Nuzha police officers rushed to the

scene of the crime. Their inspection concluded that the defendant is

psychologically ill, and has been out of work for 15 years. Muhammad

Adel head of the Nuzha police prosecutors office, Muhammad al Kholi

First Deputy Prosecutor took over the investigation under the

supervision of counsellor Khaled Abu Zeid from East Cairo prosecutor's

bureau. Police inspected the knife that was used in committing the

crime. The defendant confessed that he had killed the first two

victims claiming that they had continuously bothered him as they were

raising a dog in their apartment. He claimed that he had killed the

third victim because of the football that was continuously played (in

her apartment?) A matter that bothered him he said.

Can someone please fix the orthography of the subject topic above?

It is "lun-A-tic", not "lun-I-tic" which basically means "moonstruck", in Armenian it is known as "lusnot". While in the general sense "lunatic" may mean deranged, crazy, subject to lunar phases, in the Armenian "lusnot" generally refers to the periodic neurological episode otherewise known as "epilepsy". Even the Arm. Encycl. defines "lusnot/epilepsy" as "ebilebsia/epilepsia"

The father and daughter who were brutally murdered happen to be my uncle and cousin. Their names are Hagop and Vanya Exerjian. Two very kind, generous and extremely talented people. My family is devastated by their deaths.
