Vigil
This site is about Iran, however the topic is about the Darius's tablets, which are interesting because its a portrait of the past. Darius is the guy who stated that "he was of Arya blood"...Arya meaning Aryan...anyways just somthing to think about. Also they all seem to look alike or is it just me? Another aspect you must notice is that Ionians, Medes,Scythians, and Babylonians are all extinct now. What remains are the Armenians, Hindu's(Indians I guess), Assyrians, and Persians. http://www.cultureofiran.com/noruz_celebration.php Edited May 31, 2004 by Vigil
bellthecat
Did you notice the little bell around the neck of the horse being gifted by the Armenian (and also around the neck of the Scythian horse)? Excavators have found similar little bells in excavations of Urartian sites.

bellthecat
Are you asking where on the horse, or where on the page, or where were the bells found? If it's the first two - then use your eyes! They are the small objects that are sticking out from the edge of the chest of each horse. At least, that is what I presume they are! Don't know exactly where the bells were found, there are a lot of them in the Van museum, and I've seen pictures of others in Yerevan museums. bellthecat
I've had another look - and they are definitely bells. You can see the rope around their neck that the bells are hanging from, and on the Scythians horse you can even see the clapper inside the bell. Sebastia
Van museum reminds me of the time when some turks claimed ancestry from the Urartans!
