State of New Jersey recognizes Artsakh, condemns Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression –

New Jersey became the 10th U.S. state to recognize Artsakh today, reports the Armenian National Committee of America – Eastern Region (ANCA-ER).

The New Jersey State Senate unanimously passed SCR. 71, spearheaded by State Senator Joseph Lagana.

Earlier in the day, ANCA National Board member Ani Tchaghlasian and ANC NJ advocate Joe Ariyan testified before the NJ State Senate Judiciary Committee in support of the measure.

In addition to recognizing Artsakh, SCR.71 condemns Turkey and Azerbaijan for their aggression against the peaceful populations of Artsakh and Armenia and reaffirms the state’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

State New Jersey recognized Nagorno-Karabakh independence

The Senate deputies of the American state of New Jersey have recognized the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh and condemned Azerbaijan's actions against civilians during the last autumn aggravation of the Karabakh conflict. Some Facebook users, including those of Armenian origin, expressed their approval of this decision.

Besides, the deputies recognized the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. The Senate recognized the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh after the Committee members, Ani Chaglasyan and Joe Ariyan, testified before the Senate's Judicial Committee in support of the decision. Senator Joseph Lagana initiated the resolution, the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) has reported on the Facebook.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on October 23, 2020, the authorities of the Cliffside Park District in Birgen County (New Jersey), the city of Fort Lee and the Fowler City Council (California) recognized the independence of Karabakh.

Earlier, on October 16, 2020, the Council of the French department of Aude-de-Seine, and on October 19, the City Council of the French city of Vienne adopted resolutions in support of Nagorno-Karabakh and expressed concerns about the war in the region.
