PanARMENIAN.Net - The city of Amposta in Catalonia has recognized the independence of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), according to the Armenian Embassy in Spain.

The resolution adopted at a plenary session of the city council also condemns the Turkish-Azerbaijani attack on Karabakh.

The Parliament of Catalonia earlier condemned the attacks by Azerbaijan against the civilian population of Artsakh. The legislature of the autonomous community urged the parties to resume negotiations for reaching a peaceful solution to the conflict, which should be "based on the will of the majority of the citizens of Artsakh."

Several U.S. states, the parliament of Australia's New South Wales, as well as more than a dozen cities and towns around the world have already recognized Karabakh.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey and Syrian and Libyan mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
