PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkey has begun its military offensive into northeastern Syria to force back Kurdish militants controlling the border area, days after President Donald Trump said the U.S. wouldn’t stand in the way.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the start of the operation, code-named “Peace Spring”, on Twitter and said it would also target Islamic State. A small forward group of Turkish forces first entered Syria early Wednesday at two points along the frontier, close to the Syrian towns of Tal Abyad and Ras al-Ayn, according to a Turkish official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The Turkish lira weakened on the news, nearing a low for the day.

Kurdish-led forces were on high alert and called on fighters to head for the frontier to defend the region against the Turkish offensive that is expected to involve tens of thousands of soldiers backed by tanks and armored personnel carriers from NATO’s second-largest army.

Turkey’s advance follows a dramatic reversal of U.S. policy. Trump told Erdogan in a phone call on Sunday that dozens of American troops who’d been working closely with Kurdish forces in the fight against Islamic State would pull back, effectively clearing the way for a Turkish incursion.

The White House statement appeared to surprise allies at home and abroad. The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces said they would defend their “own people,” potentially relegating the battle against Islamic State.

The Kurdish YPG militia that forms the backbone of the SDF has been one of America’s closest partners in the fight against Islamic State and is holding thousands of jihadist fighters and their families in camps and detention centers in northeastern Syria.

While Trump said Turkey would become responsible for the detainees, who include foreign fighters from Europe, it was not clear if there was a mechanism in place to transfer them to Turkish custody.

Trump drew criticism at home for his decision to hand responsibility for the jihadist prisoners to Turkey over concerns that chaos in northeastern Syria could allow Islamic State members to escape and regroup.

Russian troops open new Euphrates crossing between SDF, SAA lines

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Russian Special Forces opened a new crossing in the Euphrates River Valley amid reports of an imminent Turkish military operation in the region, Al-Masdar News reports.

According to reports, the Russian Special Forces opened the crossing between the lines of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the Deir ez-Zor Governorate.

As shown in the photos released by the KTB media channel, the Russian Special Forces can be seen observing the construction of the new crossing in the Euphrates River Valley region.

PanARMENIAN.Net - U.S. troops have begun withdrawing from positions in northern Syria, paving the way for a Turkish operation against Kurdish fighters in the border area, the BBC reports.

Kurdish-led forces have until now been a key U.S. ally in Syria, where they helped defeat the Islamic State group, but Turkey regards them as terrorists.

The main Kurdish-led group called the surprise U.S. move a "stab in the back".

But President Donald Trump defended the pullout, saying it was time "to get out of these ridiculous Endless Wars".

 

The withdrawal follows a White House statement issued late on Sunday, saying U.S. troops were stepping aside for an imminent Turkish operation.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says its aim is to combat Kurdish fighters in the border area, and to set up a "safe zone" for Syrian refugees currently living in Turkey.

The UN humanitarian chief in Syria, Panos Moumtzis, says aid workers are "preparing for the worst" if fighting breaks out in north-eastern Syria.

"From experience, this could result in a displacement of people, we want to make sure that we are ready," he told reporters.

30 foreign militants killed in joint Syrian-Russian operation in Idlib

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Syrian and Russian air forces carried out a strategic attack on two Hurras Al-Deen bases in the eastern countryside of the Idlib Governorate on Sunday, October 6, Al-Masdar News reports.

The airstrikes by the Russian and Syrian air forces reportedly destroyed the militant bases in the eastern Idlib towns of Agher and Ballisa, resulting in the death of many militants, mostly foreign militants.

While pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) placed the death toll at nine, with six of the casualties being Hurras Al-Deen militants, the Syrian military’s numbers were less conservative.

According to the Syrian military, the joint Russian-Syrian attack resulted in the death of more than 30 militants from the Hurras Al-Deen group, with almost all of the reported casualties being foreign combatants.

Among the dead militants were several militants from the Russian Caucasus region, including the countries of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Chechnya.

The Syrian military source said their forces had been scoping out this area in eastern Idlib for several days before the attack; they would ultimately wait for the militant group to hold a commanders meeting before striking.

The source pointed out that the militant group was preparing to launch a large-scale offensive in eastern Idlib prior to Sunday’s attack.

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan held a telephone conversation just a while ago with Consul General in Aleppo Armen Sargsyan, the Office of the High Commissioner told Armenpress.

According to the latest reports, at the moment no active military operations are taking place in the city of Qamishli, the shops and markets operate, however, the schools of the city are still closed for security purposes.

“Our compatriots living in Qamishli do not yet see a need to leave their settlements, but if there are people who will decide to come to Armenia, the state is ready to welcome them. The Armenian families who have been transported from Tell Abyad to Aleppo are in safe conditions. They will meet today with the Consul General during which most probably Chief Commissioner Zareh Sinanyan will hold a phone talk with them”, the Office said.

On October 9 Turkish forces launched an offensive in Syria’s north-east.

The Armenian foreign ministry released a statement noting that Armenia condemns the military invasion by Turkey in north-east Syria, which would lead to deterioration of regional security, losses among civilians, mass displacement and eventually to a new humanitarian crisis.

Israeli political scientist: Turkey`s obvious aggressiveness gives Armenia a stabilizing importance

ArmInfo. The Turkish invasion of Syria opens up additional opportunities for cooperation between Israel and Armenia. A similar opinion was expressed by ArmInfo, an Israeli public figure, political scientist Avigdor Eskin.

"With Turkey's obviously unbridled aggressive outbursts, a strong Armenia is important to the whole region and the whole world as a stabilizing factor. It's time to realize this and help Armenia in its formation and strengthening," he emphasized. According to Eskin, after the start of the Turkish invasion of Syria, the casualties of hostilities are in the hundreds. What, the political scientist considers not surprising, calling to recall the tens of thousands of Kurds destroyed by Ankara since the beginning of the eighties. However, this time it is not just about the Turkish invasion of Syria, but also about the introduction of terrorist gangs of a radical Sunni orientation there, including militants of the notorious "Islamic State".

Expert: Turkey's actions in Syria pose threat to Armenians


YEREVAN, October 11. /ARKA/. Sona Sukiasyan, an expert in Turkish
affairs from the Orbeli Analytical Center, told a news conference
today that Turkey's s military operations in Syria have two main
objectives.

The first objective is to cleanse the borders of the country from
Kurdish elements, forcing the local Kurdish population away from
cities and villages, since Turkey regards them as terrorist groups.
The second objective is to resettle about 4 million Syrian Arabs who
sought refuge in Turkey, people who don't come from the region, in
these areas.

“Turkey seeks to create a security belt in northeast Syria and also to
change the demographic situation in this region, replacing the Kurds
with Syrian Arab refugees, who are more loyal to Turkey,” Sukiasyan
said on Tuesday.

She also said that Turkish army poses a danger not only to the
Armenian, but also to the entire Christian population of Syria.
According to her, there are now about three thousand Armenians living
in Syria, and that steps should be taken to ensure their safety.

However, she added that the actions in Syria are not directed
specifically against the Armenians living there. She said Armenia, as
a country of this region, should be actively involved in the processes
taking place in Syria and t needs to quickly respond to what is
happening in the region.

According to U.N., some s0,000 people in northern Syria have been
forced to flee because of Turkey's assault on Kurdish forces. Turkish
warplanes and artillery blasted targets across the Syrian border
Friday on the third day of the offensive. -0-

Turkey’s century-long complexes

It is difficult to understand Turkey and the Turks. Years after years and centuries after centuries the complex of being alien to where they live has not left them. To an extend that they remained wild even after creating an empire. So wild that they eliminated whole nations. Perhaps, they were feared for the fact of them being incomers would be reminded to them over and over again. To an extent that being devastators they were reluctant to give people their freedom whose territories they had conquered.

What kind of a blood Turks have as they never get tired of killing? Not only are they ashamed of their genocidal vileness but from time to time initiate death revelries.

Who is Turkey with all its gone and hidden ambitions or envy to join Europe? Who are passing through the country, what type of armament and for whom are transferred through Turkey? No civilized logic may ever explain.

“109 terrorists have been killed since the launch of the military operation in Syria,” Erdogan has recently stated.

No matter how pragmatic one is the war is incompatible with civilization, the unawareness of children, the deaths, the hours filled with horrors for elderly, women as all of them may never perceive any ‘military’ justification for a war. No matter how hard the great powers explain the usage and production of weapons under the veil of democratic, liberal, anti-terrorist slogans, the war still remains unperceivable.

Turkey has launched a wedding of killings in front of the whole world yet again.

Since yesterday, all have been following the developments in Syria where the Kurds and Christians are again the target. Some question why the Kurds helped the Turks during the Genocide. Yet those thoughts appear when one does not watch real war scenes, helpless fathers taking their kids in arms, desperate grandfathers unable to protect their families, little girls dreaming of weapons …
This might seem a curse for Turks. Otherwise, how can one explain the country always heads to and gets stuck in the most hideous gambles.

Yes, the only explanation may exist is that is a curse!

Selle: Trump snub allows Turks to replay Armenian strategy

Those with Armenian heritage know exactly what the Turks are up to in Syria. Armenians know because they were told, from a long line of oral truths, about what happens when the Turks gear up their military might.

Turkey’s assault on the Kurdish people in Syria — “Operation Spring Peace” — is a replica of what Turks did to the Armenians from 1915 to 1922. The laundered term is ethnic cleansing, but it is genocide, aimed at a one-time U.S. ally in the Mideast.

Millions of Armenians endured property seizures, forced relocations, slave labor, mass migrations, starvation, death and torture under the tyrannical rule of the Ottoman Empire. That was during the Armenian Genocide.

Thousands escaped Turkish oppression and made their way to the U.S. They first ventured to Worcester, Mass., where they found jobs at the Washburn and Moen Manufacturing Co., later moving to Waukegan’s Lake Michigan shore in 1891 when the company started fabricating its new invention of barbed wire at the mill on the city’s South Side.

They joined others from Eastern Europe — Slovenians, Lithuanians, Serbians, Finns, Slovaks, Croatians — making a good middle-class buck at the mammoth wire mill, which U.S. Steel closed in 1979. The closure was the beginning of Waukegan’s industrial job losses.

The area’s Armenians moved on from the mill, their sons and daughters becoming mayors, county officials, township officials, entrepreneurs, lawyers, judges, doctors, dentists, school principals. But they always knew about the holocaust, one of the world’s first acts of genocide against a specific people. There would be more.

They were told of relatives evicted from ancestral apricot groves coveted by Turkish neighbors, atrocities suffered at the hands of cruel Turks, property stolen as their kin were forced to walk for miles to save their lives, becoming a part of the Armenian diaspora. Every year, their families would mark April 24, Armenian Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Of course, the Turks have denied for decades their persecution of the Armenians and the estimated 1.5 million deaths during the holocaust. Just as they deny the military incursion into Kurdish-held territory in Syria is to cleanse the region of civilians and combatants, using one of the world’s strongest military forces.

These are the same Kurdish fighters who aided U.S. efforts to defeat ISIS forces. Primitive ISIS members committed their own recorded acts of genocide during their short-lived jihadist caliphate. Many are now back running amok since President Trump decided unilaterally to withdraw the buffer of about 1,000 U.S. troops, allowing Russia to fill the vacuum.

The Turks maintain they undertook the assault into Syria to stifle roving bands of terrorists, which they contend are Kurds.

They labeled Armenians the same more than a century ago to justify the genocide of a peaceful people.

In 1915, Armenians didn’t have the option of turning to a new-found military ally, Syria, to help save their lands and people, as the Kurds quickly have done. Much of the world snubbed the plight of Armenians and their humanitarian crisis.

Just as Trump ignored calls from Kurdish leaders and members of his own party, instead allowing Turkey a free hand to dish out another round of crimes against humanity, of huge land grabs. Even his toadies have abandoned this president’s latest foreign policy debacle.

Trump may be having second thoughts on letting Turkey roam unfettered against the Kurds he betrayed, slapping sanctions on our NATO ally. Perhaps he got a history lesson from some Armenians who know what Turks are capable of when the world decides not to stand up to brutality.

Park in southeastern Turkey built atop Assyrian, Armenian graves

A plot of land in Turkey’s southeastern Mardin province containing Assyrian and Armenian graves has been transformed into a park, Ahval Turkish news outlet reported, citing left-wing news site Duvar.

The newly-landscaped park in Mardin’s town of Dargeçit, part of the ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) ‘’nation parks’’ project, hosts a recreational facility and a wedding hall, Duvar said.

The project in the neighbourhood known to locals as “Tirbik,’’ had been launched by the town’s state-appointed official in 2016, despite repeated warnings from residents on the sanctity of the land.

The Turkish interior ministry in March of 2016 replaced the mayor of Dargecit with a state-appointed official.

"It is neither ethical nor conscientious to build a recreational centre and park atop a cemetery,’’ Duvar quoted Dargecit resident Abdulmesih Ergun as saying.

"This was once a Christian cemetery. There were once Assyrians and Armenians here,’’ Ergun said.

In the beginning of the 20th century Mardin was home to over 12,000 Assyrians and over 7,500 Armenians.

Leaked memo reveals Turkish military operation plan against Armenia

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS. Unconfirmed reports that the Turkish military since 2001 has an attack plan on Armenia codenamed ALTAY made headlines earlier in the day. Nordic Monitor author Abdullah Bozkurt claims in an article to have obtained classified documents revealing that Turkey’s 2nd Tactical Air Force Command developed operation ALTAY in July of 2001.

Although ARMENPRESS was unable to independently verify the report at the moment, we contacted Abdullah Bozkurt for more information and validation, and the author claimed that all information contained in his article is “100 percent authentic.”

According to Nordic Monitor author Abdullah Bozkurt, the Turkish military inspectors found out that some of the pages of the plan had gone missing while conducting a review of the plans at the Controlled Documents Bureau by the 4th Main Jet Base Command at Ankara’s Akıncı Air Base.

According to Bozkurt a legal investigation was launched to determine how the classified documents went missing. The memo reporting the missing pages to the General Staff by the Directorate of Operations was filed on May 23rd, 2016. And it was the leaked memo itself that revealed operation ALTAY. “According to the short memo drawn up by the inspectors to brief the General Staff, the secret plan was finalized on July 13, 2001. It was prepared by the 2nd Tactical Air Force Command as part of the OĞUZTÜRK air offensive plan of the Turkish Air Forces in order to complement the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) directive codenamed “ALTAY” for an offensive against Armenia.

The memo stated that the action plan was still valid and underlined that the violation would not have a negative impact on the TSK’s ALTAY directive. The missing pages included the following details: the second part of a table that showed which military companies would be placed under the command of the 2nd Air Forces Command; the last page of the military action plan in the attachment “EK-Ç,” which was part of the OĞUZTÜRK Air Operation Plan and showed the authorizing signatures; a three-page attachment marked “EK-U” that detailed operation orders within the framework of the Military Action Plan Measures and Activities”, Abdullah Bozkurt wrote in Nordic Monitor.

Unsurprisingly, this report sent shockwaves internationally, with Greek media calling the revelation “sensational”. Some Greek news media are even going so far as saying that “This revelation, along with other information, has prompted circles in Athens to worry that Armenia will be Turkey's next target” after Syria.

Turkey launches new website denying Armenian Genocide

The Turkish president’s press office has taken another step towards the denial of the Armenian Genocide by launching a new website, 1915.gov.tr, which is aimed at fighting against "Armenian Genocide claims”, Ermenihaber reports.

“This website will respond to Armenian Genocide slander used against our country at every possible opportunity in the international area, by putting historical information and data to the fore," Daily Sabah quoted Turkey’s Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun as saying.

The website features the following sections: The Events of 1915, Official Declarations, Court Decisions, Armenian Terror and Questions and Answers.

The website promotes the ideas of the Turkish state on the Armenian Genocide issue, such as "leaving history to historians", "opening archives", "common sorrow", “fatalities by both sides” and "hurting the Armenian-Turkish settlement by decisions of third-country parliaments".

The website has a separate section on “Turkish diplomats killed in the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia (ASALA) operations” from 1975 to 1985.

A group of extreme nationalist Turkish lawyers, members of the
Istanbul Bar Association, published an article in their November 2019
Bulletin threatening ‘to deport’ all Armenians from Turkey once again.
The author of the article, Mustafa Chalik, writes that the
‘deportation’ would be ‘the mildest action’ against the Armenians.
Since the Turkish government denies the occurrence of the Armenian
Genocide, the author refers to it as ‘deportation.’ The article
describes the Armenian Genocide as ‘a crowning achievement.’

To make matters worse, Chalik blesses the memories of the chief
henchmen of the Armenian Genocide: “the great martyr Talaat *****,”
Enver *****, and Bahaddin Shakir, saying that “we bow in front of the
saintly memories of all Unionists [Young Turks] and kiss their blessed
hands…. We wish God’s mercy and eternal bliss in Heaven to all unnamed
[Turkish] martyrs who lost their lives in the Armenian massacres.”

Chalik goes on to write that “If the Committee of Union and Progress
[Young Turks] committed ‘a crime,’ their only ‘crime’ was to prevent
the catastrophe that occurred to us in the Balkans from happening to
us in Eastern Anatolia.”

The writer states that “we support the Armenian deportation of 1915.
Those who call the deportation a genocide are making a declaration of
war. Armenians and others, who call it a genocide, are threatened with
a new deportation which will be the lightest measure against them.”

“Our ancestors entered the World War to defend their sacred homeland
and honor. It is our honor and the crown of our heads in all our
struggles from Sarıkamısh to Chanakkale and from the Armenian
deportation to Independence War. We will carry this crown with eternal
pride,” writes Chalik.

Chalik continues “If we believe that there is no other way to defend
our homeland and national existence, whoever we are, the smallest
gratification we will resort to is a new ‘deportation.’”

In the preface of his book, “Armenian Genocide Claims,” Chalik
describes the Armenian demands regarding the 1915 Genocide as “a
crying literature…. Great nations with deep roots do not manage to cry
and whine. They regard pity and seeking pity for themselves as
demeaning. For this reason, ‘weeping and crying literatures’ are
either not developed or have disappeared. This is one of the serious
issues. From time to time, we, too, are influenced by the richness of
the Armenian crying literature, and unnecessarily accuse ourselves for
not publishing as much as they do. As a matter of fact, we can’t
compete with them even if we wanted. We have such a vast ‘mourning
literature’ that is not only related to the Armenian atrocities, but
other catastrophes we are experiencing. In fact, it is said that the
silence that the Turks came to exhibit in the face of Tashnak
propaganda, which has been carried out for decades with a full cry,
has been seen as ‘denial’ of the crime of slander and genocide.”

In addition to Chalik’s article, there is a second article in the
extreme nationalist Turkish lawyers’ Bulletin, written by Faruk Ulker,
titled: “1915 Events and Armenian Atrocities.”

Ulker writes that “the Armenian issue and the claim of the Armenian
Genocide still remain one of the most important problems of our nation
in the last century.” He calls the genocide, “self-defense.” The
article also quotes Yusuf Halacoglu, a former member of the Turkish
Parliament and a denialist of the Armenian Genocide, as stating: “the
300,000 Armenians who died during the deportations lost their lives
due to disease in the Caucasus.”

As if such denialist lies were not enough, the Turkish newspaper Daily
Sabah published an article on December 8, 2019, titled: “Turkey to
boost efforts to fight defamation campaign.”

The Turkish government’s Directorate of Communications formed a
website, “1915.gov.tr,” posting materials that deny the facts of the
Armenian Genocide. Daily Sabah states that “Turkey objects to the
presentation of the 1915 incidents as a ‘genocide,’ rather referring
to it as a tragedy in which both Turks and Armenians suffered
casualties amidst the throes of World War I…. ‘This website will
respond to Armenian genocide slander used against our country at every
possible opportunity in the international area, by putting historical
information and data to the fore,’ said Presidential Communications
Director Fahrettin Altun on Saturday during a training program in the
coastal province of Antalya.”

Daily Sabah further reports that “In 1915, the Ottoman Empire
relocated Armenians in eastern Anatolia following revolts in which
some sided with invading Russian forces. There were many Armenian
casualties during this relocation process. Armenia has demanded an
apology and compensation, while Turkey has officially refuted Armenian
allegations over the incidents saying that, although Armenians died
during the relocations, many Turks also lost their lives in attacks
carried out by Armenian gangs in Anatolia. The Turkish government has
repeatedly called on historians to study Ottoman archives pertaining
to the era in order to uncover what actually happened between the
Ottoman government and its Armenian citizens. Rebuffing the ‘genocide’
allegations, Turkey has officially acknowledged past experiences as a
great tragedy in which both parties suffered heavy casualties,
including hundreds of Muslim Turks.”

Altun was also quoted by Daily Sabah as stating that Turkey will step
up its efforts against Armenians targeting the country. “We should
wage a stronger fight against dark propaganda.”

More importantly, Altun added that Turkey’s negotiating power in the
international arena has been increasing as a result of its growing
regional strength. “Our aim is to conduct high-quality, valuable work
to equal to the upsurge of our country, which has a voice in the
region and in the world,” Altun stated.

We should make two conclusions from the above materials:

1) Those who say that the ‘Bloody Turk’ has not changed much in the
past 100 years are right, except that we should not generalize to all
Turks. There are many Turks who are righteous and readily acknowledge
the crime of Genocide against Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks.
However, there are many other Turks who are the blind followers of
Turkish officials who intentionally deny the Armenian Genocide. Good
examples of the denialist Turks are the authors of the two articles
referenced above, and the website set up by Erdogan’s Turkish
Government to deny the Armenian Genocide.

2) The Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun claims
that with the increasing prestige of Turkey, it has become a stronger
country. While this is unfortunately true, it should encourage all
truth and justice loving people in the world to work tirelessly to
expose the true barbaric nature of Turkey not only 100 years ago, but
also today in Northern Syria against Kurds and Christians. Countering
and diminishing Turkey’s clout in international relations should be

one of the main objectives to establish historical justice!

Turkey hits back; to ban US troops from airbases

Ankara: In retaliation to America’s sanctions over the acquisition of the S-400 air defense system from Russia, Turkey may expel the US from Incirlik airbase.

“We will assess the worst-case scenario and make a decision. If the US imposes sanctions against Turkey, then the issue of the Incirlik and Kurecik bases may be on the agenda,” said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Mevlut Cavusoglu added that Ankara will not support NATO’s plan to protect the Baltic states until the alliance adopts a plan to protect Turkey from terrorist threats.

The US is hosted at Kurecik and Incirlik airbases. Incirlik is seen as particularly important to the US, both because it is used in the Syrian War, and is believed to be hosting a number of US nuclear weapons.

Deliveries of the latest Russian-made S-400 air defense systems, which caused a significant rift in relations between Turkey and the United States, began in July. According to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the S-400 will be fully operational in April 2020.

Washington demanded that Turkey cancel any deliveries of the Russian-made systems over fears that they are incompatible with NATO security standards and might compromise the operation of US F-35 fighter jets. Turkey has insisted that it will continue to accept the delivery of the S-400 systems.

The delivery of the F-35 stealth combat jets to Turkey was blocked by the US when Russia completed the first shipment of S-400 components in late July 2019. The second round of the deliveries was finalized in late September, ahead of schedule.

Turkey’s autocratic leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan again made headlines this week when he once again lambasted Israel, called upon fellow Muslims to unite and confront the West (Turkey is a prominent member of NATO), threatened Greece announced he would refuse a Nobel peace prize, received the top of Hamas in Ankara, and cut a deal with Libya that would effectively split the Mediterranean Sea.

Erdogan also changed his plans for Syria and announced that Turkey would not leave the country until foreign countries quit the war-torn state.

Initially, the Turkish dictator claimed he again invaded Rojava, the autonomous Kurdish region along the Syrian Turkish border, as part of his ongoing effort to fight “terrorists”. He now announced he would re-settle one million Syrian Sunni Arab refugees in the so-called safe-zone after his ‘Operation Peace Spring’ drove more than 300.000 Kurds from their homes.

Israel is Erdogan’s favorite punching bag as we know but this week the Turkish tyrant crossed all lines when he told a conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation that Israel is “executing and merciless murdering innocent girls, fathers, mothers, elderly people, children and young people on the streets of Palestine.”

While portraying himself as the sole patron of the Palestinian Arabs Erdogan lambasted the West and certain Arab states for encouraging “this brutality of Israel while he called upon his Muslim brothers and sisters to unite and confront the West and conspiracies against Islamic countries.”

The Turkish leader also claimed that because of Turkey’s stance on the Palestinian Arab issue the country had witnessed terror attacks and “economic sabotage” in recent years.

He then tried to portray his government as a victim of loneliness because of “Turkey’s objections against the oppression in al-Quds (Jerusalem) and Palestine.”

The rant against Israel has not yet led to an official reaction by the government in Jerusalem or the Simon Wiesenthal Center in the US which earlier labeled another diatribe against the Jewish State the “most anti-Semitic one since Goebbels and Hitler.”

Erdogan’s call upon Muslims to confront the West says a lot about Turkey’s NATO membership and should lead the organization of Western armies to rethink this membership especially in light of Erdogan’s flirt with Russia where he purchased the S-300 anti-aircraft shield and in light of his close ties with Iran, some experts say.

Then there is the new treaty between the official Libyan government and the regime in Ankara about linking the two countries maritime’ zones in the Mediterranean Sea despite protests from Greece, Israel, Egypt, Cyprus and other European countries that consider the treaty illegal.

Greece is furious about the deal and expelled the Libyan ambassador because the agreement disregards Greek maritime zones and that of Crete.

On Tuesday the Erdogan regime threatened Israel, Greece, Egypt, and Cyprus claiming “establish natural gas transport lines in this region,” the newly formed maritime zone which effectively cut The Mediterranean Sea, which is full of hydrocarbon resources, in two parts.

The Erdogan regime made it clear that “international actors cannot conduct search and drilling activities in this region without our permission.”

Except for Greece, which already showed it is ready to confront Turkey in the Mediterranean Sea over illegal Turkish gas drilling near Cyprus, no European country is currently ready to use sanctions against Turkey about Erdogan’s belligerent moves in the sea.

EU minister met in Brussels on Monday but failed to take concrete steps against Turkey that has threatened to flood Europe with Syrian refugees and with returning ISIS members.

The memorandum between Libya and Turkey threatens to scuttle a European plan to construct a gas pipeline in the Mediterranean Sea while Erdogan has already made clear he will not allow it.

Erdogan, meanwhile, has set his sights on a new military intervention this time in Libya.

After delivering drones and armored vehicles to the Libyan government, Erdogan now offers to send troops to the devastated oil-rich country.

“Regarding sending troops to Libya, if they request assistance, we would respond (positively) to that demand," Erdogan said during a World Human Rights Day event in Ankara.

As usual, the Turkish leader uses his desire to bring “peace” and “to fight terrorists” as a fig leaf for his imperialistic moves and aggression.

“Erdogan’s behavior is rapidly spinning out of control,” political analyst Dr. Theodore Karasik wrote in an op-ed for Eurasia Review.

Leading Turkish physicians actually think it is worse and diagnosed Erdogan with a psychological disorder last year.

The doctors who are all members of the Turkish Medical Association (TMA) diagnosed Erdogan with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPS).

One of the symptoms of NPS is looking down on people the patient perceives as inferior while another is an exaggerated sense of self-importance and superiority.

Reacting with rage and contempt and being impatient or angry when they don't receive special treatment are other symptoms appearing in a person suffering from NPS.

Mustafa Altıoklar a doctor and the director of TMA has been arrested for this diagnose which he said had nothing to do with insult or humiliation.

Altioklar said the TMA diagnosis was meant to share concerns with the public.

Historic Armenian church in Turkey damaged by treasure hunters

The historic Surp Asdvadzadzin (Holy Mother of God) Armenian church in the village of Bagpinar in Turkey’s Kayseri (Kesaria) Province has repeatedly been attacked by treasure hunters, Ermenihaber reported.

As a result of the attacks, the church has suffered significant damages. Especially the frescoes have been destroyed due to the holes dug into the church walls.

In an interview with a Turkish media outlet, Bagpinar Mayor Omer Nalbant expressed regret over the poor state of the church, expressing hope that the authorities will restore the church to turn it into a tourist destination.

According to Nalband, he repeatedly placed metal doors and locks on the church, but to no avail, as thieves would break them every time.

According to the Turkish source, representatives of the Kayseri Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism said all churches in the province have been registered, adding restoration works are planned but no dates have been set.

More than 16,000 antiquities stolen from Turkish-occupied Cyprus, even found in Japan

More than 16,000 Christian icons, mosaics and murals dating from to 6th and 5th centuries have been forcibly stolen and sold abroad since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, according to the Director of the Office for Combating Illegal Possession and Trafficking of Antiquities, Michalis Gavriilidis.

In a lecture he gave on Monday night at the University of Cyprus Archeology Research Unit, Michalis Gavriilidis said that after the Cyprus invasion in 1974, Byzantine artworks were even found in Kyoto, Japan (Fragments of Royal Doors from Peristeronopigi were fund in Kanazawa College of Arts). He added that efforts are being made to repatriate them and he hoped to return to Cyprus soon.

As Gavriilidis pointed out, illicit trafficking of cultural property is one of the most serious forms of crime today. “The annual cost of illicit trafficking and trade of artifacts and cultural goods worldwide is estimated to be more than $ 10 billion,” he said.

“Illegal trafficking of cultural heritage is an international crime that many countries suffer from, including Cyprus, especially after the 1974 Turkish invasion. It is a scourge affecting the countries of origin and the countries of transit and final destination of the stolen works. Just by listing the countries whose cultural heritage has been plundered by traffickers in recent years, the magnitude of the crime will be ascertained: Syria, Egypt, Afghanistan, Iraq and Cyprus and many more countries all over the world,” he said.

Gavriilidis also noted that the international community had become more sensitive about this issue, especially after the disaster in Palmyra, Syria, which put other countries that had suffered a similar disaster on the spotlight, such as Cyprus. The Council of the European Union, INTERPOL, EUROPOL and other international organizations, such as UNESCO, WCO, etc., have undertaken work in this respect, something which assists our efforts, he noted.

Turkish host tells foreign nationals, including Armenians, to get out of Turkey

The host of one of the local television stations in Turkey’s Urfa Province has made xenophobic statements.

Trying to justify the Turkish military operations in Syria’s Idlib, he called on foreign nationals living in Turkey, including Armenians, to get out of the the country, Ermenihaber reported.

“There may be people who think that this country is not their homeland and they don’t belong to this nation. This is a wonderful opportunity for them. As long as the borders are open to refugees, you, too, can disguise as refugees and leave the country,” he said.

“You can say: I am not the son of this country, I am a Russian grandson, a son of a German, a grandson of an Englishman, an Armenian… If so, the borders are open, get out of here, go!” he said.

Brawl erupts in Turkish parliament over military action in Syria

A brawl broke out in Turkey's parliament on Wednesday during tense discussions over Turkey's military involvement in northwest Syria, Euronews reported.

Video images showed dozens of legislators from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's party and from the main opposition party pushing each other.

In the footage, some are seen throwing punches while others try to pull the legislators apart.

The clash on Wednesday started when Engin Ozkoc of the opposition Republican People's Party took the rostrum. During a news conference shortly before, Ozkoc called Erdogan "dishonourable, ignoble, low and treacherous".

He also accused the president of sending the children of Turkey's people to fight while Erdogan's own offspring allegedly avoided long-term military service.

During a speech to members of his party, Erdogan himself had accused the opposition earlier of being "dishonourable, ignoble, low and treacherous" for questioning Turkey's military involvement in Syria's northwest Idlib province.
