joseph parikian
A GROUP OF ARMENIAN SPIES BOUGHT TO COURT YEREVAN, OCTOBER 17. ARMINFO. The Center-Nork Marash court has started the trial of a group of Armenians spying for Azerbaijan. Nina Shilina, a refugee from Sumqayit living in Jermuk, was recruited in 1993 by the department for "the fight with Armenian terrorism" of the Azeri Interior Ministry. She was instructed to start diversive and reconnaissance activities in Armenia. Together with some Rafik, an Azeri citizen, she was told to place an explosive and to carry out an act of terrorism in the Hotel Erebuni (Yerevan). She failed because of some technical problems. Later Shilina recruited her relatives and engaged in collecting information on the social-economic and political state of Armenia as well as on the deployment of the country's military facilities. At first she flew to Baku to convey the information, then to Tbilisi. Each time she got $150-300. Among Shilina's accomplices are her husband Eduard Silkov, his sister Iveta Silkova and some Alexander Gasparyan. There is one more defendant in the case - former Armenian officer Artur Oganesov
bellthecat
Another proof that nothing has changed in Armenia since the worst Soviet times. If you want to gain advancement, or do down some annoying or uppity neighbours, then just invent some silly story about spies and denounce them to the authorities.
