The only way Davis was able to win then was by smearing Riordan, who would have been the Republican nominee and would most have probably won the election for the Republicans then. Politically, Davis "lived by the sword and died by the sword." He has always played dirty politics. He ran ads that linked Diane Feinsein with Leona Helmsley, a thinly veiled anti-Semitic attack. a la Nixonian tactics. Armenian-American State Senator Jacqueline Speier, before she ran for state office stated that Davis' tactics made her ashamed to be a Democrat. She called him a despicable man at that time. So Davis has "eaten" the rewards of his long-time sleazy approach to politics. Even pro-Armenian Atty Gen Lockyer stated that Davis' consistent trash talk was beneath dignity. He met his match in the "Terminator." All his sleazy leaks about Arnold posing for shots with a homosexual photographer, his groping sexy females and his off-the-cuff Hitler comments (which were distorted by Davis' people for political gain) could not stop Arnold.
