It is not clear what your surname means from the way you spell it.

1. It may be based on "mard", mortal, man, plural "mardiq". I don't think so.

2 It could be a diminutive contraction of Martiros, martyr. I doubt it.

3. It is probably meant to be "martik/warrior" from "mart/war" as in Mars the god of war.

If what you say is true, then I think the site Arpa pointed you to spells it out correctly.

Here, you have to rotate it 90 degrees clockwise and you'll see it in Capital "M" followed by lower case letters for the rest.

If I'm not mistaken, 1-st row, 5th letter (yeh), folowed by 1st row 1st letter (ah) and then 3rd row, 2nd letter (n).

 

The lower portion of that figure lists the capital letters while the top part is the lower case stuff.
