bellthecat Posted August 24, 2003 Report Share Posted August 24, 2003 I saw the (perhaps overly lavish?) opening ceremony on TV in Igdir, Turkey, where the TV reception from Armenia is better than for Turkish TV stations! Maybe not a cast of 1000s, but there must have been at least 500 or 600 performers in it, not counting the actual games participants. bellthecat Posted August 24, 2003 Report Share Posted August 24, 2003 It was impressive - the ceremony, but it took me a while to figure out what the event was about, not knowing what it was in advance! There was a strange bit near the start where a lot of characters dressed in historical costumes dance around a big white circle while the lead character recites lines that were delivered in a style that was a bit like a cross between rap music and opera.
