Diaspora Teachers Start Training In Armenia

Over twenty teachers from the Diaspora have gathered in Armenia to undergo training at the Yerevan State Pedagogical University's scientific and educational centre. The training program is the fourth of its kind, Armenpress reported.

 

The opening ceremonies were attended by Armenia's Minister of Education and Science Sergo Yeritsian, rector of Yerevan State University Radik Martirosian, Deputy Chairman of Armenian National Academy of Sciences Vladimir Barkhudarian, and chairman of Writers' Union Levon Ananian.

 

Outlining the role of schools throughout Armenian communities, Yeritsian suggested creating a council of directors from all Diaspora schools to resolve similar problems of schools. Barkhudarian, a lecturer this year, highlighted the importance of the course. Martirosian promised to provide professional support to Diaspora teachers.

 

The attendees will study Armenian language, literature, history, Armenia's geography, the system of ethno-psychology, theology and music. The teachers, many of whom are visiting Armenia for the first time, will visit museums, meet with Armenian writers, artists, scientists, and politicians, and travel to historical sights on weekends. At the end of the courses, the teachers will take an exam and those with the highest scores will be awarded prizes.
