Armen Half-Celt Posted July 31, 2003 Report Share Posted July 31, 2003 (edited) Hi, i'm new here As was made clear in another post Pyunik had won a match against KR Reykjavik.This was decent opening leg, and 7 days later the rematch in Icelandic capital saw FC Pyunik earn a 1-1 draw sufficiant to see them to the next round of the competition: The Second Qualifying Round. Only the 2nd time they reached it, after last season.Where they were elliminated by Dynao Kyiv Thier opponets in this round were the Bulgarian Champions, CSKA Sofia. In a bizzare turn of events the winners of that round, whoever it may be, had been drawn agianst Galatasaray. Unfortuantly today (the 30th of July) CSKA defeated Pyunik earlier in Yerevan, by 2-0. Making the return leg an extremely difficult task Probably they will be ellinimatedbut their is still a slight chance they will make it. The coach is says he expects a better match on the return leg, but their chances of advance are rather deppressing. Oh well, the team is young, they have time to get better. In fact Blatter said "See you in Germany 2006." Shortly before he left Armenia for Georgia while on his Tour of the Caucacus to innagurate the FIFA works being completed there. I mean if the President of Fifa has confidence in Armenia, then must be a good team ! well, pehaps not... <_< However i would have to say the future is looking bright. And i think we still have a mathematical chance to Qualify for Euro 2004. Their recent games have been very impressive Just think that even with our ranking this low, thier are still aproximatly 91 teams with a lower one, and some teams with higher ones which we can beat.
