It must have been hard on the senior citizen, losing her daughter at such a young age. They had been estranged for many years. Her two children by Willie were caught in between the bitterness between Willie and Carol, who were married twice before Carol married actor Walter Matthau. My mother knew these people in her youth when she a close to the Morgan sisters, Lady Furness and Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt. The anti-semites in the other forum can never deal with the fact that this famous Armenian, Saroyan, was only married twice to the same woman and that this woman was Jewish.
