DominO123
All important facts must be considered: a book on the history of the Germans and the Jews that does not mention the death of the Jews in the Holocaust cannot be true. ( Note: He is alluding to the fact that Armenian deaths are considered while Turkish one ignored, comparing in a way the Armenian deaths as the German ones, and the Jewish deaths during the Holocaust to the Turkish ones) ... Attacking those who disagree with you is the way of the Armenian nationalists who bomb professor's houses, kill diplomats, threaten scholars, and take advantage of unjust French laws to sue professors who dare to speak out. I hope this is never the way of the Turks. I go into bookstores in Istanbul and Ankara and see books in Turkish, written by Turkish citizens. These books state that the Turks did commit genocide. I read Turkish newspapers that include interviews with men whose words sound as if they were been written by Armenian nationalists. Sometimes I laugh at their arguments. I won't start commenting on that one, it would be too long. Who was the victim? When World War I began Armenians were living in seized Turkish property in Erivan, Karabag, and Kars. Turks had not stolen Armenian property; Armenians had stolen Turkish property. Armenians were the aggressor side and Turks defended themselves, Armenians wanted land from the Ottoman Empire and the only way to be in majority in these lands was to kill the majority who was Turks. The Ottomans wanted to protect its people. Ottomans tried to suppress the uprising. Armenians started to kill the people living in villages while withdrawing. It was Armenians who started the killings. It was not Turks who started the bloodshed. This last one is interesting, while he says that Armenians started trying to kill the majority of the Turks, he says they killed while withdrawing, but I don't understand, if they started killing, why would they withdraw? I mean, is he not saying they were the ones starting to kill to be the majority? If they would want to be a majority and started to kill, I mean if they would want to populate the places and their intention would be such, why would they kill and withdraw? I don't understand here. Can anyone understand? You want to take a territory, you kill the persons and withdraw, whould that not be contrary to the reason you killed him? Am I too slow to understand this bright "true historian" ? Guess who wrote those lovely pieces... no, he is not a Turk, no ! It is not Weems(even if it seems to be similar in generalisation). It is my dear chap McCarthy. Sorry guys bringing that up, I was reading some works of his I have collectioned and remembered those jokes, I seriously though of posting them on the humour section, but finally changed my mind. But I won't have any problem if any moderators does that, if he/she find that more appropriate.

DominO123
I am especially glad to be among my colleagues, the professors of Atatürk Üniversitesi, who have done so much to investigate the massacres of the Turks of Erzurum and to teach us the story of the saddest period in Turkish history. McCarthys colleagues from Ataturk University?
DominO123
I say "Muslim" rather than "Turk", because the Ottomans kept all their population records by religion. Anyone who says he knows precisely the ethnicity or language of the inhabitants of the Ottoman Empire is inventing his statistics. They were demographically consistent, accurate data, … But McCarthy you said you had demographically consistent and accurate data. Can we conclude you invented statistics?
