Yervant1 Posted December 26, 2014 Report Share Posted December 26, 2014 LOS ANGELES COUNCILMAN PAUL KREKORIAN ACCEPTING ART SUBMISSIONS TO COMMEMORATE ARMENIAN GENOCIDEWestside TodayDec 24 2014December 24, 2014 10:34 amLos Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian said Tuesday his officeis accepting submissions for an art contest commemorating the 100thanniversary of the Armenian genocide.The contest "is a way to honor the history of the genocide and tohighlight the promise of our future," Krekorian said."I hope artists and students who care about human rights willparticipate and help commemorate the Armenian people's resilience,"he said.An estimated 1.5 million to 2 million Armenians were killed duringthe Armenian genocide, which occurred from 1915 and 1923, in an areanow known as Turkey, Krekorian's office said.Submissions are due Feb. 15. The winning artwork will be displayedon a city bus for one month.Drawings, paintings, digital art and photography are eligible, butnot sculptures or large format work, Krekorian said.Artwork can be mailed to Krekorian's office at 200 N.
