MosJan Posted July 12, 2003 Report Share Posted July 12, 2003 ARA ABRAHAMIAN TO BE PROCLAIMED GOODWILL AMBASSADOR http://www.agbu.org/images/newsletter/Ara.jpgAra Abrahamian, a Moscow-based tycoon of Armenian descent and the founder and president of the "Union of Armenians in Russia" will be proclaimed UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassador on June 15, the UNESCO press service reported on Thursday. Abrahamian will receive a diploma certifying his honorary title from UNESCO's General Director Koichiro Matsuura at a ceremony to be held at the organization's headquarters in Paris. "The UNESCO general director notes Ara Abrahamian's special contribution to the promotion of dialogue between cultures and confessions. As a representative of Russia's business circles, he made a considerable contribution to implementing medical projects, including those aimed at combating AIDS," the UNESCO press service emphasized. French President Jacques Chirac received Ara Abrahamian last week as a prominent public figure and businessman who contributes to developing Russian-French economic ties. MosJan Posted July 12, 2003 Author Report Share Posted July 12, 2003 Peace Ambassador I've been awarded "Peace Ambassador" of UN and UNESCO. Well, not quite me, but it's still me! Here it is: Chairman of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abrahamian is awarded "Peace Ambassador" UN and UNESCO highest award. As a UNESCO representative told "ITAR-TASS" agency, A. Abrahamian was awarded the title "for large contribution to dialogue between civilizations and strengthening interethnic relations." It should be noted that "Peace Ambassador" is endowed with special international status and fulfills important UNESCO and UN missions. The title was earlier awarded to two Russian figures, one of which was famous musician Mstislav Rostropovich. Hehe :-) It's me, but the problem is: I don't live in Russia and I'm not a chairman in any way! But who cares! I can use, or abuse, his credit in my name! I can show off :-) I remember there was a guy in Orion app server's mailing list with the name Bill Clinton! And guess what, it was when Clinton was the president! Ara. MosJan Posted July 12, 2003 Author Report Share Posted July 12, 2003 RUSSIAN-ARMENIAN TYCOON FIRM IN HIS DECISION TO CREATE PAN-ARMENIAN ORGANIZATION The chairman of the Union of Russian Armenians Ara Abrahamian discussed some issues on creation of a World Armenian Organization (WAO) with France's president Jacques Chirac during their meeting last Friday in Paris. Ara Abrahamian, who had made up his mind to join Armenian communities in 72 countries throughout the world under one leadership, said that Russia will have a leading role in this undertaking first of all due to the huge number of Armenians living there, around 2.5 million, talking to ITAR/TASS Russian state news agency reporters after the meeting.He also said that France's Armenian community, which is the biggest in Europe, more than 500,000 people, could have its valid say.
