khodja
We are back to step one. The Soviet Union is no more but Turkey is still positioning itself as the bulwark of the West. How did they pull this off? It was the US CIA who brought down the Shah. They were fearful that Iran was becoming too powerful economically. In 1991 the US decided not to enter Baghdad and remove Saddam Hussein. At the top of the chain of command of both these idiotic decisions was the man whose seed brought forth the present US President. So now little Armenia is back to where it was before the end of the Cold War. Turkey is still calling the shots. The Islamic world has become the center of foreign policy. All because one overweight Jewish man decided to take a walk on a hill last Fall. We never had it so good as during the time Clinton was President, despite his last minute call to Hastert. Sharon pulled off the ultimate coup, not only in Israel against Barak, but of the whole world.
Juggernaut
quoteIt was the US CIA who brought down the Shah. They were fearful that Iran was becoming too powerful economically. I have never heard anything so rediculous, congrats Khodja. quoteAt the top of the chain of command of both these idiotic decisions Actually the second decision (on not removing Sadaam) was the right one. Iraqs population is 60% Shiite (like Iran). If Saddaam was dislodged it was (and still is) very likelly that the Shiite fundamentalists take power and turn Iraq into another Iran. quoteWe never had it so good as during the time Clinton was President I dont think it matters who leads the US, whoever it is Americas interests are allways going to come first, the only difference is going to be in domestic policy. Frankly, I would rather have the US be isolationist rather than interventionist.
khodja
Juggernaut, Do you ever read about world events or do your comments spring from your own mind? Shiites have always been predominant in Iran, yet Iran spent many years as a non fundamentalist nation. My comments do not spring from my own mind but from what I have researched, predominantly on the web.
Juggernaut
quoteor do your comments spring from your own mind? My comments spring from facts quoteShiites have always been predominant in Iran, yet Iran spent many years as a non fundamentalist nation. I am aware of this, but the fundamentalist Shiite opposition in Iraq is the biggest threat to Saddaam and is naturally backed by Iran. quoteI have researched, predominantly on the web. The web is not an accurate source of information on most matters, escpessially politics.
