Argument from Ignorance

First lets do examine this statement but before I do it pays to read the following.

 

Argument from Ignorance

 

Arguments of this form assume that since something has not been proven false, it is therefore true. Conversely, such an argument may assume that since something has not been proven true, it is therefore false. (This is a special case of a false dilemma, since it assumes that all propositions must either be known to be true or known to be false.)

i. Since you cannot prove that ghosts do not exist, they must exist.

ii. Since scientists cannot prove that global warming will occur, it probably won't.

iii. Fred said that he is smarter than Jill, but he didn't prove it, so it must be false.

Proof:

Identify the proposition in question. Argue that it may be true even though we don't know whether it is or isn't.

 

MJ conveniently ignores all past Jewish and Israeli involvement in our affairs reducing it to zero. Anybody who has read any Armenian newspaper last three years would know all the issues at hand. MJ does qualify to be a psychic since he boldly assumes that Israeli paths will not across ours. Since this argument is about the future and by its ambiguity of scenarios unknown one cannot make statements as such. On the other hand Israel may have a indirect involvement in possible conflict in Karabagh in shipment of arms via Turkey and intelligence assistance to Azerbaijan. It is really presumptuous to make statements that have no bases in the past and no known bases in the future but according to Thoth, MJ strives to higher intellectual properties of thinking that frankly I am having difficulty finding. In short Jews as any other people are not automatically assumed uninvolved or unimportant in our affairs when the evidence has proven otherwise.I expect for a change MJ to dibate and defend his position otherwise what is the value of writting slogans?

Dear Rubo,

Please don't underestimate MJ. He is not infallible, and contrary to some supporting evidence , I don't think he has any such pretense. But you will not achieve anything positive by a confrontational style. Try to start with a clean slate, and stick to the issues that you care about rather than the personalities you find disagreeable. Please give MJ a chance (and perhaps some motivation) to be civil to you.

 

I guess I am assuming Thoth's usual role today. Hey Thoth, how am I doing?

To Rubo - I made some comments recently (while trying to reason with MJ) that I think you may have attributed to yourself. None of those comments was meant to directly pertain to you. Sorry if you had that impression. This isn't saying that I agree with you on everything either - I don't. MJ never really elaborated on his disagreements with your approach/ideas - but I imagine that if he did I would agree with much he is likely to say. By no means do I not want you to post here however and I welcome your input.

Ahem. I was asking about my fleeting role as the peace-maker of the forum. However, I am sensing that you were affirming my general well-behavior. For that, I thank you. However, I assure you that I was not seeking such affirmation, for I think I have always stayed well within the limits of civilized discourse. In case I wanted such affirmation, I would probably go to someone else. You see, you recently lost the chance of being the dispenser of wisdom on good manners during your exchange with Boghos.

 

Therefore, I kindly request that you not be observer of "how long it lasts".

Yes, I know you are regularly teased. But I was surprised to see you drag in a tasteless innuendo about his private life (in another thread). That's when you lost your license. However, I am not "so upset" at you, and simply wanted to remind you that you are not spotless.
