Sip Posted October 13, 2002 Report Share Posted October 13, 2002 I know there is quite a bit of chess interest out there in the forum which is not that suprising since this is "Hyeforum" after all! So, I was just wondering if anyone is following the latest human vs. computer games: Deep Fritz vs. Kramnik ... looks like Kramnik lost the latest game (game 5), but is still ahead 3-2. Any thoughts on this if you are following it? I haven't had any time to check it out. For those who haven't seen it, this site has quite a bit of details about it. Accelerated Posted October 13, 2002 Report Share Posted October 13, 2002 I remember being told by someone (or reading somewhere) that Deep Fritz was specifically designed to beat Gasparov, therefore wouldnt it be less effective against Kramnik? I remember Gasparov after losing the second around complained that they loaded all his past games into the computer therefore he legitimately raised the objection that he did not know what kind of info was loaded in the hard drive but the computer knew all his playing habits and tactics. Gasparov is still highest rated player in the world and Kramnik has alluded to play against him after winning the title. No doubt Kramnik is a great player but for me he has not surpassed Gasparov. Sip Posted October 14, 2002 Author Report Share Posted October 14, 2002 This got me curious to go and read about this Deep Frits ... if I remember correctly, Kasparov was palying Deep Blue which was an IBM project. I wonder how much Deep Blue and Deep Frits have in common ... I would actually want to see Frits and Blue go head to head to see what would happen.
