Sip
http://zr2.cs.ucla.edu/Sip/zr2/zr2_subs.jpg I am all FOR gadgets and toys and useless stuff but anyone think this is maybe a "little" too much? It's in a pickup truck ... all those are behind the driver seat ... there is a 6-th subwoofer that you can't see on the other side. In any case, although shocked, I am impressed and gotta give the guy credit for "effort"
Guest Fadi
Seaphan, I hate stereotyping people, but when I see someone that does this with his car(I hope its not you ) I have a very, very bad impression of that person... I think those people have NO respect for others, they pollute with noises everywhere they pass with their durty car, to show off, they think they will impress people, but what I think when I see these idiots, is how stupid, to pay for such crap, at least if it has a little of quality... Noooo, they do not understand that to have a good system, it takes a good amplifier, that is build in a circuit of at least 30 Volt or more ( ), their parasit collector crap, that can only shut with its woofers, and a high frequence, that is lost in the parasits generated with the poor quality of the amplifier and all these craps changing the amplitude of the system everytime these stupid Woofers start to bit. At 2 AM, an idiot come with his cars, and think that his big system is showing that he is an important person, but probably this idiot has an inferiority complex, with a probable small organ, trying to correct it with his big system etc... when these idiots awake me, the only thing I think of, is taking a baseball bat and suck his Pollutor speakers... GGGGrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... I can't smell these idiots... I hope this person is not a relative of yours, because I know you will hate me with my comment... sorry, but I really CANT SMELL THEM... I can only pitty them, because with the few neurons they have they do not realise that they lose more and more by using their noise polluting system... then after pittying them, I open my home system, put a Good Baroque or Classic Music, in order to forget the shock I had, and injoy real music. Sip
So let me see if I understood correctly ... you don't like it? http://zr2.cs.ucla.edu/Sip/zr2/roflmao.gif
shiner
I wonder if the peson is Asian. I guess not since it is a pickup truck. Asians like supping their cars up like that, but it's usually Preludes, Accords, and Integras.
Sip
Yah Btac, I know exactly what you mean ... with the technical term of course being the "ricer" or the "rice mobile". I am a BIG fan of high quality car stereos. I think the acoustics in the small space provided by a car can be amazing. However, notice I said "high quality" and NOT loud!!!! I can't imagine why ANYONE would put that many subs in a small space like that other than for the purpose of being heard from miles away as Mos said. I have 1 10" subwoofer (square not round) in my blazer and it is more than I can handle and I have to turn the gains down a lot. In the past 10 years, I have been slowly building up my system and it is to a point that I am very happy with it. You will not hear me coming but when inside the truck, the acoustics are really enjoyable (tuned to my taste of course). Here are a couple of pics if interested ... PIC1 PIC2 Right now, I am in the process of completely re-doing the inside of my car and I'll put those on my website in the coming weeks. But if there are any questions about car stereos let me know. There are a TON of info on the web but a lot of it is wrong/inaccurate. Event the so called experts usually don't know what they are talking about since most of them never even had a single electrical engineering course!!!! Of course, my signature always applies . About the "Armenians" in LA:, it seems like the fast, fixed up sports cars were THE things to have among the young crowd. Recently, I see a lot of those "persian" type fully loaded SUVs with 14 TVs, a satellite dish and a washer and dryer inside. Black BMWs also seem to be the car of choice for the "mafia" wanna be types (but some of them are actually that type and seem to be a pretty scarey type of crowd ) I am mainly into offroad and 4x4ing (I actually do take mine offroad a lot). I don't know too many Armenians that are into this but I haven't really looked. Also, mane of the "american"-types have this BIG fixed up expensive 4x4 vehicles that never see any action other than maybe driving on snow once in a while [ April 26, 2002, 02:52 PM: Message edited by: Sip ]

Guest Fadi
Sip, how you can have a good quality in cars ? I never acountered good quality stereo's for cars, The demonstrators in shops suck also... I remember when I asked to one of my friends, he told me that the main problem is that a good amplifier circuit work on the avrage between 33 V - 45 V, when Car batteries can not provide that much, they have an option to increase the courant, but because it takes alternative courants to increase it, and after this increase there is to much noises on the amplifier... I don't know if thats true, but I realised also this when I wanted to build years ago an amplifier as hobby(Oh... my hobby years) and the systems if I am didnt forgotten were based on 38 V etc... Maybe I am exagerating a little, but as an audiophile, I bet you that I can find any little distortions, on your systeml... If you have 500,000 dollars to buy the house system of that prize, with the near ferfect circuitry and speakers. :-)
MosJan
your can allways get a good qualit+++ car St system, under a $1000made by Bosse / Nakamichi / Sony / Boshit's good enugh for me. shiner
Sip,You seem like a guy who is pretty familiar with the aftermarket underworld when it comes to cars. You know how everybody has their style. Asians with lowered Preludes, intakes, exhausts, body kits, etc., blacks with hydraulics on big cars (Cadillacs), Hispanics with waxed, painted shit and their names on the back windshield, Persians and Indians with luxury vehicles supped up in a very subtle manner, etc. Do Armenians in LA have their own style? MosJan
it was cool when I was 16-18 but now I can not teak loud music. way to much for me. i can understand if one has a good system in his/her car, something that produces nice and clear sound, but to something for everyone around 10 city blacks no way Movses
Sip
Domino, you are correct that with 12V, it is VERY hard to get a clean system. However, it can be done and that is the best part of it ... the challenge! You have so many things to worry about that you would not normally think about in a "home" type system. And of course, the main concern is usually cost ... I don't think I am ready to sink thousands and thousands of dollars into a car stereo! (maybe one day when I am rich). The new solid state components these days can do wonders. Amps have gotten very efficient and you can overcome a lot of noise issues with digital processing. I still can't afford those high cost digital sound processors but their cost is coming down. Currently, after rewiring things, I have this really annoying noise (alternator whine) in my setup ... I am trying to get rid of it. I have narrowed it down and I think it is being picked up on the power line of the main stereo deck (there is a deck and 3 amps). The amps are ok since I have the big 1F cap very close to them. So right now, everything sounds horrible (but I'll fix it within the next week). The other problem I have is that my MP3 player picks up noise from somewhere ... I'll have to figure that out next. All these noises make things VERY complicated when working with systems in cars but that's part of the fun and why I like it!!! Plus, in LA, you have to DRIVE A LOT so it's nice to have toys in the car.
