MosJan Posted April 16, 2002 Report Share Posted April 16, 2002 E-DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE BEGINS IN YEREVAN A new initiative on E-Development , implemented with the support of the European Union, is added to TRASECA, INOGATE and Regional Ecological Center projects, all carried out with the direct support of the European Union. A regional conference, entitled 'Electronic Development for the Caucasus,' also implemented with the assistance of the EU, opened on Monday in Armenia's capital Yerevan. The idea of holding the conference in Armenia had been submitted to the EU by the official Yerevan in 2000 during an EU-Armenia cooperation council session. The idea was approved by the EU, prompting the Armenian side to undertake the preparation works. The main objective of this regional conference is to encourage the Caucasian countries to boost their cooperation in IT sectors and help the region’s countries integration with similar European and global structures. Experts of 13 countries – Russia, USA, Iran, Turkey, Japan, Georgia, EU member countries have arrived in Yerevan to attend the conference.
