Dear all,

 

Each and everyone of you comes on this froum almost every day to chat, yes?

 

Yet we don't know much about the kind of lives you lead!Even just the small things - like what kind of work you do, what you enjoy doing in your spare time, clubs you belong to - like me, I'm currently in the middle of trying to find an armenian social or club in London please wish me luck!

And if anyone has any stories about themselves, like countries they have lived in before,family things, brothers and sisters, etc, etc.

Well what can i say. I enjoy history especially the history of russia and the former soviet union and armenia of course. My favorite activity i would have to say is weightlifting. Listenin to music and playin music is also on my list.

Well thats basically me.

 

I also like walks on the beach,romantic dinners, and movies.. 5'11 170 ibs iso caring,affectionate,intellegent,pretty sw(armenian)f

like what kind of work you do,

 

I'm a partner with a national actuarial consulting firm. Actuaries are basically the number crunchers for the insurance industry. It's a great mix of math, business and finance with just enough travel to keep it interesting.

 

what you enjoy doing in your spare time

 

Collect records, CD, music memorabilia, etc. Been into records for about 30 years. My wife and son are other pastimes (and old MAD magazines!).

 

Of course another hobby is family!! (In fact, my grandma is reading over my shoulder as I type! )My whole Armenian side pretty much lives in the Los Angeles area (and has for about 70 years), so we have many family functions.

 

My wife's immediate family is also here (except for one sister in Florida). Even though my khnamis (in-laws) are odars, they are both from Fresno and absolutely love Armenian culture.

 

It's so incredible that anywhere I turn in this city I have cousins, aunts, uncles, and khanamis.

 

Rest is standard, 9-to-5 work week suburban family life. As an example, all day today was spent putting Christmas lights on the house. Boring stuff for some, but I love it.

Ok Kazza Jan here is a summary of the bits and pieces of my life that floats around this forum. I was born in Tehran, Iran in Armish Maag Hospital. I lived on Kuche Pak near Shemran neighborhood, and attended Golestan Kudak from k-3, then I attended TAS school (Tehran American School). When I was 10, and just a few months before that bastard Khomeini came to power we came to the US, settled in Montebello, California, where I graduated from high school. After rambling about from job to job for many years, I finally graduated from Cal.State LA, with a major in Spanish. I have been teaching multiple subjects to fifth and sixth graders for 4 years now, and love my job. I am working on a teaching credential and hope to get a masters in Spanish and maybe teach Spanish one day. I am single, casually date, and beginning to (just beginning) to start thinking about settling down with that one special Chocktaw-Armenian princess! LOL!

That's good Alex: Do you want to beome a Historian? I just LOVE History: except the histtory which they taught at MY school was just very narrow: The History of World War II. I want to study the History of everything: even mars! Joke, joke. I want to know EVERYTHING. I soppuse there is only one way to do this and that is to read up on it.

Hee hee I know what you mean...! the spirit of this topic is to find out about things about the forum members. It may not be Armenia-related as such but I still think that it is important to this forum.

 

Pilafjan I know that you work for insurance but I head somewhere that Acturaries have something to do with mortality rates , or something along those lines.....!! A bit morbid for YOU, isnt it?

I know, you are very family orientated. So am i but the difference is that I don't have my OOWN family. If I do I want to be fully prepared and sure that it is something that I want and can handle. It is something, if you are ganna do it's gonna be done properly. Which is why I admire you approach!

PS, I am the absolute baby of my familt which Is why I get spoilt rotten and dont have to wash up!

yes yes YES! If your like me you will NEVER settle down: free and wild is best! I used to say, that the only way I will ever get married is on the back of a motorbike in Las Vegas. Then my anuties would be shocked! Good.

Yeah Kazza i would love to be a histor(ian) ......lol......no seriously though i love history. My specialty is the former Soviet Union and Russia. Ive been studying it for the last 1 1/2 years. Its addictive. Ive been to over 100 links and got my info from many sources which is the best. Now im trying ot find out more about ww2 (eastern front especially) cuz as every 1 knows the war was won in the east not in africa....lol......the great battles of Stalingrad and Kursk really interest me and i would love to find out more about the Soviet 62nd Army.....

What I meant was I wasn't obsessed with Finding A Husband Just For The Sake Of It like some girls do when they are eighteen and never mind my about my own life or education. Like so many girls. It's stupid. Or: Catching A Rich Man.

A little about me: I spent a lot of time in working after high school: I always thought education was important but I am just really begginning my college now. I have done lots of work, which I wont really go into at this point!

Alright, this is my fourth attempt to post under this topic. Every single time something has either gone wrong with the connection or someone has interrupted me or....I hope I can complete this now. You know what's interesting, though? Each of those times I had set out to write a mini biography of sorts, very detailed, somewhat revealing about who I am, etc. I took the mishaps to be a sign. So this time I'll try being a little more concise and not quite that detailed.

 

Is there anything I haven't disclosed to you people? lol Let me think. You all know the basics: I'm finishing up my political science major at UCLA this year, graduating in June, attending grad school right after that next fall.

 

I work with autistic and otherwise developmentally disabled kids doing ABA (applied behavioral analysis). I recently signed a contract with a clinic headed by a psychologist who specializes in these disorders. I'm very happy about that.(my job before that which I'm still going to keep was basically contracting with the parents of the kid myself). I like this mix of working for a clinic and "freelancing" in a way.

 

After I get licensed as a psychologist, well, there's so much I'd like to do. Of course I want a practice of my own (I don't like to share in that sense, I like professional freedom). After some years, I'd like to open up a school/clinic for mainstreamed developmentally disabled kids. It'd be the perfect mix of therapy, education and play. It'd be headed by a psychologist (yours truly) and taught by teachers who have degrees in psychology, so it'd be a very treatment oriented place. The education component would involve programs designed specifically for this population of school age children. The play component would entail a very strong focus on self help skills, social skills, and social interaction. Maybe we could throw in a few hours of occupational, speech, and music therapies, as well as floortime, I haven't decided yet. lol, I could talk about this forever, it's what you would call a "dream". Later on in my career when I become an internationally recognized expert (lol, clearing throat) I'd like to collaborate with psychologists in Armenia, especially educational psychologists working with special education children in designing programs better suited to the needs of this kind of a child. I feel there's a strong need for this kind of a focus in Armenia, it might as well be me who does it (although I have heard of this woman who was involved in special ed in Armenia, don't know much about her).

 

Dating life: I have been avoiding relationships lately, all they are is a headache. I do date now and then. I think my choice of people to date is getting incresingly better, I'm growing in that sense. I'd like to get married someday and have children, that'd be cute, but oh my, what a headache. I think I'll postpone that for as long as I can...lol

 

Friends: although I'm very social I'm not one of those people who have a million friends. I take friendships seriously, as I do everything else that ends in "ships"... lol...My friends are few, but I handpicked them to be the best, and they are.

 

Family: came to the States in 1991 at the age of 13, love family, especially visiting my grandma, live with mom and dad (they've adopted an "over my dead body are you moving out" attitude...lol), and kid sister. I'm shaping her to be everything I'm not and a few things I am. All in all, she's a perfect creation

 

Hobbies: people , politics, fashion design (I have a collection of sketches, I've been doing this since I was about 15 or so), a recently discovered hobby of cooking and baking (I love experimenting with different tastes, unique combinations are my speciality; they'll make a homemaker out of me yet..lol), having company over, watching sports with my dad (I used to play basketball quite well for a girl--guys actually let me play with them, then decided I should be more feminine, there went that passion...lol), decorating, dancing, reading, creative writing (a bunch of poems to my credit so far, as well as a short story and a play in Spanish--I wish I had more time for this). Did I mention the internet?...lol but that's not a hobby, that's an addiction. Oh, I should mention it's the only addiction I have. No other bad habits.

 

What else should I mention? I don't feel like going into details about my personality, you guys draw your own conclusions. I think I'll stop there, if anyone's curious about anything, just ask!!

Hi Kazza, I live in Poland and I graduated Oriental Lenguages Faculty in University.

1,5 year I worked in Armenian Embassy in Warsaw and it was very interesting job. Now I work in turistic office. I participate in Armenian activities.I'm interested with history, especially XIXc. Armenian history,

music and travel. I have fiance from Armenia and we want to marry soon but because he is illegal here it isn't possible now. Maybe we will go to Armenia and there we will marry. I don't now because we need a lot of money for it. What else? One of my dreams is to vizit West Armenia- Van,Kars, Sasun,Mush. One day I will do this.Although I can speak Turkish now because fight beetwen Turks and Kurds I'm a little bit affraid of such traveling. Best regard Taguhi

I study at the Far Eastern State University in Vladivostok,Russia.My division is called Law/Prosecution

I don't have a real job,but I do work as home English teacher for some kids

I have a lot of different interests....hmmm..well...Most of all I like everything about History & Religion(books especially )!!!

I love everything Armenian so there is no need to talk about that,it's out of question ...

I love to collect books and souvenirs about Ancient Egypt and Vampires -My 2 major interests

There is absolutely no life for me without music!!!!!!!!Besides all the modern types of music I have a good collection of Ethnic music:Celtic(Best ever!!),Egyptian,Jewish,Greek,Arabic,and Armenian (old Armenian music,not the Middle Eastern stuff that is considered to be our music!)I can just go on and on and on

Dear Lisa,

 

I have to say that I disagree with your assessment. I think Simonyan was much more professional than the other guy. Besides, the other guy received a lot of penalties for constantly holding his head at the level of the waist of Simonyan.

 

Alexandro's boxing style was more appropriate for a wrestler than for a boxer. Sure, he was more energetic, which is good and appeals to the crowd, but that's not what makes one to win by points, but who can score more punches, I guess.

That was a poor assessment on my part as didn't tape the fight and it was only 4 rounds. I wouldn't mind seeing it again out of curiousity.

 

IMO If anything, it could have easily been a draw.

I am not into boxing, but in criticizing. I do it best. Ask anybody in the forum. I agree that Simonyan got tired, and also confused by the other guy. I guess, that would mean that he needs to improve his physical standing. But I think he has the technique, and a quick reaction.

I just found this topic and find that all you guys have much more interesting lives than I do.

 

First my looks. You guys know Tom Cruise? I look noting like him. heehee.

 

My family came to the USA in 1981 when I was 12. I went to Cal State Northridge for both my bachelors and masters studies. Both in Management Science/Statistics. I have never had the pleasure of working in the field that I got my degree in. I have been a computer programmer all my working life.

 

What else? Hobbies - I love to cook. I would not consider myself a gourmet cook, but I can do very well. I love great food. The Hump is my lates fav place to dine. I also love good wine. California wines are my favorites at the current time. This could explain why my dream is to have a small wine bar or restaurant.

 

I listen to NPR most of the time, but when I have a CD in my stereo you can almost bet that it is a CD of Charles Aznavour. I have collected his CD & LPs(Gayan jan, you may not even know what LPs are since you are so young. They are the things we used prior to CDs ) since I was 14 years old.

 

I also enjoy traveling. I just sat here and counted the countries that I have been to and the number was 17. I love art and antiquity and when I travel I am more interested in the museums and old churches than the nightclubs and bars.
