MosJan Posted October 20, 2001 Report Share Posted October 20, 2001 305,000 PASSENGERS TRANSPORTED BY AIR IN SIX MONTHS OF 2001 YEREVAN, OCTOBER 19, ARMENPRESS: Some 305,000 passengers were transported by air in the first six months of the year in Armenia, and nearly half of them traveled by Armenian planes. According to Armstat, only 0.6 percent of the overall passengers were transported by charter flights. Fifty-five percent of them were to foreign countries and the rest to the CIS ones. In 2000 the ratio was 87.5% to 12.5%. The same source also said that the actual number of flights in the specified period of time was by 7.6 percent higher than it was time-tabled. Overall 2,308 flights were made to CIS countries and 619 flights abroad. Almost 20 percent of flights were delayed, of which 16.1 percent because of bad weather, 2.1 percent because of absence of fuel and the rest because of other reasons.
