MosJan
NAIRIT TO RESUME OPERATION NEXT WEEK YEREVAN, JULY 20, ARMENPRESS: A senior official of the Armenian and trade ministry told Armenpress that the Nairit plant, once one of the leading enterprises specialized in production of synthetic rubber in Europe, will resume operation next week. The plant was disconnected from gas supplies because of huge debts for energy supplies. Energy minister Karen Galustian said the decision on resumption of plant's operation was taken because of its special and unique role in the Armenian economy, though its debts in the first six months of the year increased by another 4 billion of Armenian Drams. Galustian said the plant's leadership has pledged to start repaying its debts beginning from next months. "If Nairit fails to meet its obligations, gas and energy supplies will be cut off again," the minister said.
