ARMENIAN BRANDY GAINS LEADING POSITION IN MOSCOW MARKET

Moscow-based Expert business journal reports that Armenian brandy is gaining the leading position in the Moscow market among other imported brandies, accounting for 20.7% sales, coming second, in terms of sale volumes, after the Moscow KIN plant (24.2%).

The share of products by the Yerevan Brandy Plant in Moscow's market makes 16.6%, and the share of another Armenian brandy producing company, the Great Valley, comprises 4.1%. According to a survey, conducted by the 'Komkon-2' organization, the brandy produced in Armenia enjoys wide popularity among the consumers. More than 32% of consumers prefer Haykakan brand, and about 14% Ararat brand. The Haykakan brandy is second after the Russian Beli Aist only by 0.5%.

It should be mentioned that KIN's production is sold at comparatively low prices (207 rubles for a litter), while prices for Armenian brandy start with 651 rubles, comparable with most expensive products of leading western companies.

According to the Expert journal, the Yerevan Brandy Plant intends to expand the volumes of its production in order to withdraw faked products from the market (up to 30%), as well as to expand the sorts of sold brandy.
