MosJan Posted September 29, 2001 Report Share Posted September 29, 2001 ARMENIAN BRANDY GAINS LEADING POSITION IN MOSCOW MARKETMoscow-based Expert business journal reports that Armenian brandy is gaining the leading position in the Moscow market among other imported brandies, accounting for 20.7% sales, coming second, in terms of sale volumes, after the Moscow KIN plant (24.2%). The share of products by the Yerevan Brandy Plant in Moscow's market makes 16.6%, and the share of another Armenian brandy producing company, the Great Valley, comprises 4.1%. According to a survey, conducted by the 'Komkon-2' organization, the brandy produced in Armenia enjoys wide popularity among the consumers. More than 32% of consumers prefer Haykakan brand, and about 14% Ararat brand. The Haykakan brandy is second after the Russian Beli Aist only by 0.5%. It should be mentioned that KIN's production is sold at comparatively low prices (207 rubles for a litter), while prices for Armenian brandy start with 651 rubles, comparable with most expensive products of leading western companies.
