The newly opened Metropol hotel, located in central Yerevan, will receive its first visitors today, a group of Belgian clergymen who have arrived in Yerevan to take part in festivities devoted to 1,700- th anniversary of Armenia’s adoption Christianity. Armenian president Robert Kocharian attended the opening ceremony on Monday. After ribbon cutting ceremony the president and the hotel’s owner, Armenian minister for transport and telecommunications Andranik Manukian made a tour around the hotel to see its modern facilities. The hotel’s owner described his new property as “more than a five star hotel.”

 

 

The entire Armenian political and business elite, including force ministers attended the opening ceremony. The minister said his hotel has 40 rooms for 63 visitors. It is the first Armenian hotel which provides underground parking lot. It also has a conference hall, a restaurant, a swimming-pool and other facilities. More than 100 people will work for the hotel. Manukian avoided answering how much it cost him, but said “it took huge, very huge expenses.”
