A new hotel opened in Yerevan, which meets all the international standards. The hotel named ‘Ararat’ is located in the central part of Yerevan, next to French embassy and ‘Euromotor Armenia’ auto show.

Its total area is 6,500 square meters, it has four floors, 50 one and two bed rooms, the cost of which for one day varies from 120-150 USD. Naturally two first class and two presidential rooms cost more.

The hotel belongs to Hayrapetian family. The construction works were carried out by ‘Erebuni’ company, which also belongs to the family. The vice-director of the company Hovik Hayrapetian said that the hotel has one hundred employees and that they expect their first guests form France. According to Hovik Hayrapetian 10 hotels out of 14 functioning in Yerevan are ‘ruins’ and need urgent repairs. He, of course, didn’t point out which ones exactly he meant, as well as didn’t tell how much money was invested in the ‘Ararat’ hotel.

The president of Armenia Robert Kocharian, chairman of Armenian parliament, many political figures and businessmen were present at the opening ceremony of the ‘Ararat’ hotel. President Kocharian briefly said that it is a very stylish hotel and that now the main issue must be supporting tourism in Armenia so that such hotels conduct successful activity.

  • 1 year later...

The manager of the newly build Hilton in downtown Sofia, Bulgaria is Armenian, which doesn't mean that there are not enough qualified Bulgarian managers.

Armenian tourist industry is in it infancy. Hospitality is very different from providing world class business services. Lebanese, BTW for long time have been in that business.

Friend of mine (non-Armenian) who travels alot have been to Hotel Ararat and according to him, the quality of the services surpasses many western Sheratons and Hiltons.

I agree with you about lebanese hospitality..., but why Armenian hotel owners

don't take along an Armenian, who could have competences to become a future manager, to be formed in a hotel management school in Europe (Switzerland, Germany, Paris...) and to propose to him thereafter a position of hotel manager ? Even if that costs money in the beginning, I believe it can be a good investment for later !

Other solution, don't forget that there are also armenians from the diaspora who studied in hotel management (in Europe, US...), if these owners want it, they can also recruit through the Armenians of the diaspora!

I just want to add something.

There is another hotel in Yerevan EUROPE HOTEL, which belongs to the associates of the french travel agency SABERATOURS of which Mr. Varoujan Sarkissian.

Apparently the hotel's manager is also a non-armenian lebanese, a friend of Ararat Hotel's manager.

Well I learned that, these two persons do not stop criticizing our Armenian brothers of Armenia and makes fun of them. That is completely disrespectful !
