GOVERNMENT AWARDS TO LOCAL PRODUCERS

At the beginning of 1990’s the Armenian market was flooded with Iranian and Turkish products- mainly of low quality, and Armenian consumers, not having an alternative, had to buy them.

Now we can proudly state that together with foreign products many local ones found their place in the Armenian market. Most of them are compatible in international markets also and Armenian consumers prefer to buy local and high quality products. Starting 1998 products’ quality competitions are being held in our republic. The fourth award competition in the production and service quality sphere took place on November 20 in Yerevan. Twenty-three companies applied for participating in the competition. As a result of expertise 10 production and 3 service sphere companies were chosen as compatible ones. The financial indices, budget duties, as well as the quality of products and the opinion of consumers were taken into consideration when deciding the winners. Seven producers (Coca Cola Bottlers Armenia, Iramen poultry breeding enterprise, Crown Chemical (producer of chemicals and cloth cleaning company), Arzni pedigree poultry enterprise, Aviasnund (plane food service), MAP beverages company and Kanaka construction company) and one service sphere company received the awards by the government decision of November 7.

 

 

Armenian prime minister Andranik Margarian delivered the prizes to the winning companies’ authorities. Congratulating them, Mr. Margarian noted that the Armenian government will continue to encourage any achievement in business sphere, adding that the progress in this sector is obvious during recent years. Margarian said that the legislative field referring to economy has many shortcomings, but added that the laws will be reviewed for creating favorable conditions for local producers.

 

 

By the efforts of Kanaka construction company 67 buildings, many schools, hospitals, kindergartens were constructed and reconstructed in the disaster zone during recent 10 years. In 2002 the company plans to reconstruct the 4-th secondary school of Vanadzor, build 7 buildings in Spitak by the financial aid of Lincy Fund, and construct a 5-star hotel in Dzoragetavan village of Lori marz by request of Tufenkian company.

 

 

The Aviasnund company is the only one of its kind in Armenia, and secures the Armenian Airlines, as well as all the planes flying from Zvartnots airport, with high quality food.

 

 

All the other companies which were awarded are also well known by Armenian consumers and enjoy their trust and appreciation.
