Guest
Stories are creeping out in the press about what is happening in Grozny and Chechyna. It sounds like the Russians are mis-treating the Chechen's. What is the general relationship that Armenia (and Armenians) have with other ethnic groups in the Caucusus ? Obviously, they have not being good with the Azeri's, but what about the Georgians and other groups ?
Guest
I know almost all chechens in the UK as well as Georgians, Azeris and some of Ingush guys. You may have heard that some so-called Chechen news representative Movladi Udugov tried to warn Armenians about Artsakh, because he said that Artsax is an Islamic region and is the property of all muslims. But that is a propaganda created by Udugov. This man earns money in the name of Islam. Even Aslan Maskhadov, said that he is a threat to Chechen nation and his so-called official rebel site Kavkaz-Canter is an opposition to the president. So, We are "OK" with chechens, I'd rather say not bad.Georgia and Armenia used to have very good relations with each other in the past. Now Armenian politicians rely more on Russia, because Russia helps with weapons and friendship with them is a good strategy. However, Georgians had a previous war in Abkhazia, and Russian and Georgian relations are not so good, even though they try to do something about it. This have a little impact on Relations between Armenia and Georgia. However, the Caucasian people always had a lot of things in common, such as traditions, culture etc. Thus outside Armenia, Caucasians more or less have a good relations. quote:Originally posted by Dan From London:Stories are creeping out in the press about what is happening in Grozny and Chechyna. Guest
There has never been problems, between caucasian peoples, moslems or Christian, Armenian, georgian or Azeri, or Chechen or Ossetian etc... the problems are made recently by the external powers. UsA, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and under cover Israel are the main supportetrs of the chechen rebels like Basaev, Khattab a chechen rebel leader is himself a Saudi arab and is not Chechen. My General impression at the Georgian forum was that the Georgians today, see the Armenians as their first enemy, I think honestly that an outbreak of Georgian Armenian conflict would have more harsh consequenses than the Artsakh Gharabgh vs. the republic which abusively calls himself Azerbaijan. Despite the religion differences the Azeri's and the Armenians have more in common than with the Georgians. Georgians today want to be western and things they are not, culturally Georgia has more in common with the north Caucasians like the Chechens the Ossetians etc... than with the other south caucasian people. Also Georgia borders Turkey, and Turkey has the desire to rob the caspian oil, which should be transported through Georgia, so it is likely that in a war with Georgia Turkey will involve himself, and whereever the Turkish army goes, there is too much bloodshed!
